I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a delightful French breakfast at a charming establishment that left me utterly enchanted. From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance exuded an authentic French vibe, with its rustic decor and a warm, inviting atmosphere.
The breakfast menu offered a delightful array of choices, and I couldn't resist trying their Soft Eggs with Creme Fraiche. The eggs were perfectly cooked, with a thinly shaved parmesan that harmonized beautifully with the creamy creme fraiche. It was a taste of pure indulgence.
The French Brioche Toast, adorned with whipped creme and fresh berries with a hint of basil, was an absolute masterpiece. The brioche was so light and fluffy that it practically melted in my mouth, while the combination of the sweet, airy creme and the tart berries with the aromatic basil created a symphony of flavors.
For a touch of seasonal delight, I also savored their Summer Tartine. The fresh, vibrant ingredients on the toasted bread were a testament to the changing seasons. Juicy tomatoes, creamy burrata cheese, and fragrant basil danced in perfect harmony on my palate.
What truly set this French breakfast place apart was the exceptional service. The staff were not only attentive but also genuinely passionate about the cuisine they served. They were more than willing to accommodate my preferences and offered insightful recommendations that enhanced my dining experience.
In conclusion, this French breakfast place is a hidden gem that encapsulates the essence of a Parisian morning. With its enchanting ambiance, delectable dishes like soft eggs with creme fraiche, French brioche toast with whipped creme and berries with basil, and the tantalizing summer tartine, complemented by impeccable service, it's a culinary experience that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking a taste of France in the heart of the city.
Update from May of 2025
With the previous owner's departure this place is not the same anymore. It got more expensive and lost its soul. Products they are using now are not of the same quality making food way less flavourful. We gave it a few tries, but the outcome was unfortunately...
Read moreI wanted to give them 3 stars because of the lack of service but to be honest food was amazing and I should never be upset at food so I settled for 4 stars. We had a reservation for 9:00pm ordered a bottle, they have good wine selections. Then we ordered appetizers. Brussels sprouts and Onion soup, the soup was amazing the Brussels Sprouts were just Brussels sprouts, they had some pickled purple onion which was a nice touch. We ate our appetizers kept sipping on our wine and no one came to check in for our dinner. Then we see our server eating dinner so then we ask the other server if we can order food and he stated the kitchen was closed. Then I mentioned that no one came to take our order for food, he said they assumed our appetizer was our dinner because some people only eat appetizers. I was a bit upset because we came from San Francisco to this place for a dinner celebration and it was not cool that they did not take our order request. The other con was that they were out of more than half of the menu items. I let him know in a kindly manner to make sure they double check on clients or at least advise the kitchen is closing in case any one wants to order food. He later came back and said they had a bigger party out back and therefore they could take our dinner order, I let him know it was okay if it was closed it was closed I did not expect them to cook if they were closed. I ended ordering the steak because if they were open for the bigger party then why not. My boyfriend did not order dinner he was a bit petty. I ordered the steak which was amazing definitely very good steak like my top 2nd place for steak. It was a birthday celebration they offered us dessert which was not worth the $25. They gave us chocolate pudding with whipped cream and strawberries.
Pro: Food is totally amazing Con: Service, out of stock on many items, over priced dessert
I will definitely go back because the...
Read moreLet me preface this with saying that I hate giving negative reviews on local independent business, but almost every aspect of our breakfast this morning was egregious. My fiancé and I had a friend in from out of town so we selected this place based off of reviews but what an embarrassing experience (for all involved).
First, we had a table that they said they would give us once the it was cleared from the last patron. It took a while, but sure, no problem, no rush. After they cleared it off a different employee gave it away to another group. Our waitress didn’t even notice. We waited for the next table, which didn’t take too long. Again, it happens, no problem.
Then we wait... after about ten minutes we flag someone down, they leave for a minute and return. She finally comes back to take our order. She’s short with us and a little rude. I hate complaining to staff when I can tell they seem busy, it happens.
Then we get our drinks. 2 are correct, one is not. They come back with the correct drinks. Unfortunately at this point our guest has had to ask twice for creamer for her americano, a third time, then my fiancé waves her over and is still being quite polite and everything. 5 minutes later, still no creamer. Finally I flag her down and am able to get the creamer, for her now cold americano.
Then comes the food. Beautiful. I can’t speak for my fiancé’s dish or our guests besides it wasn’t great. I ordered the brioche french toast. Not brioche, at all. It’s cake, not what was advertised. Not good.
Then comes the check. Automatic 20% gratuity. I’ve never been so happy and relieved to leave a restaurant like that. I won’t give a one star review on principle because we did finish our meals, but if nothing else I hope that this stops one person from giving this restaurant. What a pock mark on our beautiful city and one of my favorite...
