I wish I had nice things to say about this restaurant. I ordered a shawarma wrap a while back and it was tasty. This past weekend I decided to invite my fiance and her parents, who were visiting, out to eat at JoJo's and it was a horrible experience.
We ordered hummus with sauteed mushrooms, which tasted like it was bought at the supermarket and topped with mushrooms. The hummus was cold while the mushrooms were lukewarm. The pitas were brought out as triangles in little bags and served cold.
I got the beef shawarma wrap again, which was ok but not nearly as good as when I first tried it.
My fiance got the ghallaba shrimp entree, which was very sour. Even the rice had too much of a lemon tang. Lemon juice gives Lebanese food its distinct character, but there was way too much of it in this dish.
My fiance's dad ordered the chicken kabob entree, which was too charred, so he asked to have it redone. The redone order tasted ok but it took over 20 minutes for it to be served, and by that time, we had to watch my fiance's dad eat on his own.
My fiance's mom got the grilled sea bass, which she said tasted good. I pray she enjoyed it and didn't just say it to make me feel better about inviting them for such an underwhelming meal.
We also got the Mediterranean salad, which did taste good. But all of the entrees came with the house salad, which is the exact same salad. We asked what was the "house salad" and he just sad that it was a "basic" salad. He didn't bother to stop us from ordering the same salad as served with the entrees!
I can understand that the server was new because he wasn't well coordinated. When the food came out only a few of us got plates. Then we asked for the silverware, but that also came out in waves. We remained patient but it was all pretty comical.
I felt like I threw away $129 and was very embarrassed to have invited my future in-laws for such a bad experience. I would not recommend...
Read moreWhile the food was good it was horrible customer service and I will not be returning. I ordered 4 entrees to go. They gave me my food but when I got to my destination I had only received 2 of them and we didn’t get any of the salads. When I called the restaurant they didn’t say sorry and the individual said they had to call their boss (Malik) to see what they could do. It was 20 minutes later when they called back and offered to send the rest of the food via Uber, but at that point we had already ate and it would’ve been moot. I asked for a refund and again they said they would need to call their boss. I got a third callback 6 minutes later saying they would refund me when Malik returned to the restaurant in a few hours. I never received a callback confirming the refund and every interaction with the person on the other end of the line wasn’t sincere or apologetic at all. I even pre-tipped 15% for a to-go order which totaled $96. Will not go back and do...
Read moreWhat it lacks in atmosphere, it makes up in flavor 100%. We ordered take away from Jojos and it was the most delicious food I’ve had in a very long time. It tasted homemade not frozen like some Mediterranean places I’ve ordered from. It was like someone’s Grandma (the keeper of all of the secret family recipes) made dinner for us!! I love Fattoush salad and the restaurant where I used to get it is permanently closed. I’ve unsuccessfully, tried to find one as good. I found one that was even BETTER!! The man I assume the owner(?) who prepared our food is the nicest person and you can tell he cares about the food he prepares as well as his customers. He was genuinely excited to know what we thought of the food. If you’re in the mood for Mediterranean food, Jojo’s is the place. It does...
