Kirin Sushi and Ramen — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Had a hankering for some Japanese food and came across Kiren the other day. It was still early for dinner, but the place was still mostly full of customers. I went with the bar. It is a very cute place. Lots of details to make it comfortable and put you at ease. Good happy hour prices as well! The service was not rushed, and they constantly checked in with me to make sure I had everything I needed. I ordered some Saba along with the salmon bento box. The mackerel was one of the better ones I have had. It was very fresh and topped with fresh wasabi. The bento box was very filling, loved the toppings on the rice. Sesame and finely grated seaweed really enhance the flavor. The miso soup was really good, and you can tell that care was taken making everything. And the shrimp Tempura was one of the best I have had. So plump, it was cooked just right. The entrée had a good amount of salmon as well. The teriyaki sauce was thick and flavorful. It kind of overpowers salmon but was to be expected. There is parking in the neighborhood, but it can be hit or miss. Folks just kept coming in while I was there. Kirin Sushi in Hollywood is OPEN!!!! And it’s truly beautiful. Upon entering they have the most beautiful flowery ceiling that takes you into a magical dreamscape. It’s beautifully constructed and it’s everywhere like a magic garden. Draft beer is Sapporo on draft! I prefer cold draft beer when enjoying sushi but they also offer cold and hot sake options. Kirin has the freshest sushi with the most amazing large selection of a menu. The service is kind and very well done! Jay was an incredible server and really knew everything we could have wanted before we even knew it! We will request him each time! I’ve been twice so far, both times I was impressed. First of all, server was very nice and attentive. Not sure what his name is but down to earth guy to say the least. Second of all, the food was great on both times we went. It was rich in flavor and I could taste the quality on everything I ordered, which included their fried rice, bento box, and crazy roll. When it came time to pay my bill I noticed this place is significantly cheaper than the options around it for what you get. I’m surprised I spent only around 20-30 for everything I got.
