I believe that we were set up, because there were no other places to eat at due to the fact we were stuck in the terminal. The airport makes it so that you're stuck in your terminal, so we didn't have any other places to eat at.
I travelled with my mom, and we decided to try Loteria Grill. First things first, we seated ourselves and waited 5 minutes, not too bad. The waitress was nice, I didn't have any problems with her. The prices were ridiculous for the food that was served. I ordered the Mexican burger and my mom ordered the grilled chicken sandwich.
I didn't have any problems with my burger, but it was $27(and they had the audacity to charge an extra $3 or $6 if you wanted to add more to it!). My mother's grilled chicken sandwich was $23 dollars, and she told me that it was horrible. Hers was mostly black beans(that are canned by the way), barely any meat, and the meat was heavily seasoned in a seasoning that did not taste right on a sandwich. She told me that the only things worth it in the meal were the chips that came with it.
As for my food, I didn't have any problems with the burger. It tasted fine to me, but that's probably because I put a lot of ketchup on it. Afterwards though, I had gotten diarrhea from it. I think it could be because I don't eat beef very often, so take it with a grain of salt, I'm just giving my own experience.
Finally, to add insult to injury, I asked for a sprite, but they told me they only had starry. I said this was fine, since they taste mostly the same anyways, but it was $5.49! And it was served in a plastic bottle and PLASTIC cup! If you're going to charge me that much for a drink, at least give me the main brand and a glass cup! My mother ordered lemonade, and hers was also $5.49, and only 11oz. She also ordered water, which was somehow $7, which is ridiculous considering there was a water fountain literally right across the restaurant. 1 star, please do not come here. Bring your own food from outside the airport if you're going to LAX, because you will be trapped in...
Read moreOn May 26, 2025, I had a deeply unsettling experience with a bartender named Elanor at an airport bar. I showed my permanent ID, which is legally recognized, as a form of identification. However, Elanor refused to serve me, stating that my ID was not valid in her eyes. She insisted that I would need a state ID, claiming that I had "no rights" with the ID I presented.
I attempted to explain that if I could legally reside in the country with this form of identification, it should be acceptable at the bar as well, but she dismissed this point entirely, saying she "didn’t care."
Elanor, who claimed to have been bartending for over 15 years, asserted that she had the right to decide who she serves, which could be understood if I were intoxicated or lacked valid identification, neither of which were the case.
Her response was not just dismissive, but discriminatory. She stereotyped me based on her assumptions, and it became clear that her actions were motivated by racial bias. This is entirely unacceptable behavior, especially in an international airport, where visitors from all walks of life are to be treated with respect. Elanor should not be in a customer-facing role if she harbors these prejudices.
This experience was not only frustrating but also deeply upsetting. I believe this kind of discriminatory treatment should be addressed to ensure a welcoming environment for...
Read moreI stopped by Loteria for a burrito. Getting food in the airport isn't something I usually do - especially at LAX but I had a weird flight schedule and ended up hungry at the most expensive time possible.
The prices are definitely steep. BUT, they were a better value than The Farmers Market Grill at least for what I wanted.
The staff were definitely working, one thing I think could be seen as a bit unfair to them and to the customers is the fact its the same kitchen serving the eat-in area and the take-out area.
This definitely results in longer wait times for both, but especially the “express” take out, with is fairly slow. Calling it “express” is definitely false advertising. I didn't expect it fast, but it was too slow to have that word in the name.
If you are in a hurry or your flight is about to board then it wouldn't be a good idea to order. There wasn't a ton of seating but I did get a spot.
The food was decent tasting not the best ever, but not bad, and I have no complaints about the staff who were definitely moving the entire time.
Two stars or less is a bit harsh. But I can't give them 4 or 5 either so its a rare 3 for me.
My personal policy is no bad reviews - we all have bad days and my bad review is no review at all. 3 or higher is okay. They did a good job feeding me at the airport with a...
