Hidden Gem in K-Town My work friends who are always in the area kept raving about this spot for breakfast and lunch, so I finally had to check it out. Got a workout in first, then came here to refuel.
Parking I did street parking, but they actually have an underground parking structure with validation! Wish I knew that before circling around a few times definitely keep that in mind.
Ambiance From the outside, you'd never guess there's a whole vibey little café inside. When you walk in, it's like a small liquor/spirit market, but with a modern aesthetic and a really cool setup. They've got a dedicated food + café section, and you can eat inside or outside, though it seems like a lot of people go for takeout.
Food I went with the staff's recommendations: Breakfast Bowl - A little small for the price, but solid flavors. Loved that it had a good balance of carbs and protein. Breakfast Burrito - This one HIT. Easily one of the better breakfast burritos I've had in LA. My favorite here so far. Avocado Toast - They go HEAVY on the avo, which I appreciated, but they also drench the bread in oil so if you're not into that, maybe not your thing. But overall, not bad!
While waiting for my food, I found out that they had been giving out free meals to LA wildfire evacuees and firefighters. The program has ended now, but I love knowing that this hidden spot was out here supporting the community like that. More people should know about places like this and show them love!
Will I be back? Yes, Next time, I'm coming back to try their...
Read moreI'll start off by saying my girlfriend and I ordered two sandwiches. The Normandie and the O.M. breakfast sandwich. The Normadie was very tasty while the O.M. Breakfast sandwich didn't really taste like much besides the sausage. Upon ordering, the cashier had no energy or welcoming attitude with a very monotone welcome. I don't really care about that, but I just wanted to add it because after ordering, I proceeded to ask if they can cut the sandwiches in half for us or if they're already cut. They said they're already cut in the most "leave" kind of voice. Then we waited a bit while walking around, hear our name called, picked up the order, and left. Whoever worked the bagging area was very nice and energetic though! When we left, I checked the food in the car and only one sandwich was cut in half, not the breakfast sandwich though. I didn't ask for much and it's so simple to answer a super easy question such as them being cut in half. I don't understand how it was miscommunicated. Although the Normandie was very good, the sauce was pretty much useless. It added no flavor to the sandwich, which is fine because it's already a good sandwich. The breakfast sandwich was very ok. The prices were very steep for what is served. The total for two sandwiches was $31 with no add-ons and the sizes were moderate with the breakfast sandwich being about the size of my palm and the Normandie being a little bigger...
Read moreHeard about this spot from a TikTok creator who often reviews KTown food. I ordered the Normandie per her recommendation (she ranked the sandwiches #1-10 and this sandwich was #1).
The customer service is great! I tried ordering online but I saw the Normandie was taken off of the menu options, so I called in my order. They take off menu items from the website if there isn't enough stock to make the sandwich. Fortunately, there was just enough ingredients to make ONE Normandie, so they were kind enough to let me have the last one for the day.
I was pretty stoked about the au jus dip, but since I was a little late to my pick-up time, it got a bit lukewarm. It was still tasty and paired well with the sandwich, but it was also a little too sweet for my taste. As for the sandwich itself, I thought all the ingredients went well together, EXCEPT the picked radish was way overpowering and also made the sandwich sweet. Also, the brisket in my sandwich was so tough and chewy :( It wasn't melt-in-your-mouth tender. It made for a sub-par eating experience because I had to fight with the sandwich and the chewing texture was just icky. Overall, goodish flavors, but bad meat quality. It might have to do with me getting the runt of the litter in terms of ingredients. I might try to come back for a more fair chance. I'm 50/50 on whether I liked this...
