I don’t even know where to start. I don’t think I’ve ever left a restaurant hungry AND with diarrhea at the same time. I order chicken thighs because it’s the juiciest part of the chicken. The lie detector test determined that was a LIE. Dry, over cooked with hardly any meat. I only took a couple of bites. The grits….. omg the amount of water in the grits and horribly undercooked. Were they trying to hydrate me or feed me? It was like they were soaked in lukewarm water and not actually cook. I did send those back. I also order a waffle. It came out cold cold not just like slightly warm but actually cold. I figure no big deal, it was just sitting up waiting for my food so I politely ask for another. It came out nice and warm how a waffle should but tastes like straight up flour. Thin and flavorless, also undercooked. Like how do you mess up a waffle and you are called chicken and waffles. No worries let’s move to the sides. The green were flavorless and burnt. I would say you can’t burn greens but then I remember my cousin burnt the greens one year at holiday dinner when we were kids. but you could at least still taste the flavor. I literally have memory loss because I died when I was 25 and had to be resuscitated. Due to how long I went without oxygen, I lost a lot of childhood, teenage and early adulthood memories. Those greens were so traumatizing that it brought back the memory of my cousin burning the greens when we were children. These greens have no meat, no onions, barely any salt and pepper. Okay okay but at least there’s Mac and cheese…. They should rename it Mac and Oil. It was literally pure oil with some scattered cheese and no seasoning what so ever. Finally I look over to the cornbread thinking you can’t mess that up right… DRY….. just dry… i literally packed it all to go. I rode almost a mile in my wheelchair to eat there just to pack it go. I got home tried to add some seasonings so I wouldn’t waste my $36 plus tip because it’s not the servers fault the food sucked. He was nice and I feel like he low key try to warn me. No seasonings could help that food. It literally went in the trash. All of it. Wasn’t worth my calories, my time, my heartache my heartbreak. They disrespected my ancestors. Shame and dishonor on everyone in that kitchen. Y’all knew better. Yall lucky yall were at least friendly because I would have left that food on the table, Zelle’d my server and left. I should press charges for my mental anguish. This happened yesterday and I just got off the toilet from the few bites I did take. We were rooting for you Roscoe! We were all rooting for you! How dare you. I’ve never called a restaurant out like this. Learn something from this, in my Tyra Banks voice. I want...

Read moreRoscoe's Chicken & Waffles is a place you must visit to cross off your bucket list at least once to see what the hype is ALl about. If you're visiting for the first time, I would recommend trying "Scoe's" 1/4 chicken or the "Herb's" 1/2 chicken entrée. It all really depends on how hungry you are. They are essentially the same, except the Scoe's is smaller, while the Herb's has more chicken. They both come with 2 waffles. You have the choice of white meat or dark meat chicken.
Pictured is the Scoe's special, mac and cheese, and Biscuits and gravy.
I recommend eating the chicken with Louisiana hot sauce, dipping your chicken in syrup, and eating the chicken together with the waffle. Their waffles are amazing. They are made with Roscoe's own private mix.
You can also try their chicken with some of Roscoe's own personal hot sauce bottles. They make different ones than the go-to Louisiana hot sauce.
You can buy some of their hot sauce bottles and a T-shirt to take home at their locations. I've been to two different locations, the Hollywood and South Central Manchester locations.
Neither of them disappoint.
I used to frequent Roscoe's regularly about 10 years back when i was in town for shows or visiting the old Amoeba location. This place hasn't changed much. Still bomb!
Wait times may vary.
Parking is either super easy or somewhat difficult to find. Depending on the time you are showing up, it can get very busy. There are paid parking meeters on Gower Street. Depending on the day and time, the meeters are free. You should be able to find parking around the area. A short walk to a delicious meal never hurts.
Also, the "obama special" was pretty popular.
I added 3 pictures taken with my film camera. Enjoy the...
