Tried the cod, fish tacos, for $12, the guacamole that came on it was gross, seemed like it was out of a can or something, not fresh at all. I asked if I could just have a side of fries because I didn’t want to eat any more of my fish tacos with that disgusting guacamole on it. They refused to give me fries, and said “uh yeaaah but that’s a different item, I can have them remake the fish tacos without guacamole if that’s the problem” I said, no, I don’t want to have another version of the thing that I just discovered to be gross, just without an element that it’s supposed to have… he just looked at me, and said yeeeaahhhh I can’t get you a different item, and just had them make me one fish taco without guacamole. Which, also wasn’t good, but it was alright without the disgusting guacamole.
I explained to the same employee that I originally asked for a small side of fries because that would clearly be cheaper to the restaurant than another fish taco and I didn’t want to cause a problem etc…. He then just ignored what I said and walked away… had the cook drop the replacement fish taco which of course was dry and not good as it was incomplete. I was trying to be nice but was just still hungry after eating part of the original (gross) fish tacos and already spent $13, just wanted to fill up which easily could’ve been accomplished by simply a side of fries, which I know I would’ve liked and it would’ve cost the restaurant less, but was treated condescendingly.
Just makes no sense to me and was a frustrating experience leaving me hungry and having to go back...

Disappointing and Overpriced – Would Not Recommend
Unfortunately, this restaurant did not live up to expectations. I mentioned the poor quality of the food to our server, and she admitted she’d heard the same complaints from other guests before. While she offered a 10% discount, it didn’t make up for the experience.
Here’s what I ordered: • Seafood Caesar Salad with Salmon ($16): The salmon was extremely overcooked and lacked any seasoning, the few pieces of greens were covered in a disproportionate amount of dressing and anchovies. • Red Shrimp Burger ($18): Misleading name — this wasn’t actual shrimp, but a greasy, salty patty made mostly of what looked like surimi or imitation crab. • Raw Oysters: Came with barely any sauce - frozen cocktail sauce, served in tiny plastic containers, and completely unseasoned. • Grilled Oysters: Topped with bland what looked like artichokes and soggy grilled onions — zero flavor, poorly executed.
The food quality was far below what you’d expect at these prices. I won’t...
Read moreRoxy & Jo’s Seafood Grill at The Original Farmers Market is an absolute treasure. Their lobster roll is hands down the best in LA buttery toasted roll, packed with generous chunks of fresh, sweet lobster, lightly dressed to perfection. Every bite is rich, flavorful, and simply unforgettable.
But what really blew me away was their lobster bisque. It’s creamy, velvety, and packed with deep lobster flavor — the perfect warm-up while you wait for your roll. It’s the kind of dish that makes you want to savor every spoonful.
The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the casual market setting makes it even better. You don’t need a fancy sit-down restaurant when you have quality seafood like this.
If you’re a seafood lover, Roxy & Jo’s is a must-visit. Lobster roll and bisque combo...
