I typically don’t rate venues and if or when I do, I try to post positive ratings. I manage a team of people who provide customer service daily and I know all to well how people rarely post the positive. Most people are more inclined to post when they are unhappy. Well unfortunately, that is why I am posting today.
As mentioned, customer service plays a large part of what my team and I provide in my industry so I know how hugely important it is to a business.
A friend and I visited El Granjero’s at the Grove on Friday evening, for a night of cocktails. It was a bit of a change for us and we just wanted something simpler than the places we typically frequent. I arrived around 5:30 pm to meet my friend, just in time for a couple of happy hour cocktails. We were there for about 45 mins or so before another friend of ours, we weren’t sure would show, popped in. I asked a gentleman that worked there, who happened to be a few steps away, if it was okay if we moved one of the empty chairs to our table. He hesitated and said it would be too crowded, before seeing the space, but I respect that. Just to confirm I showed him the actual space and again he said no. I then asked if we could be moved to another table. Again, he hesitated and honestly I don’t remember his exact words but basically we were told no. It was something along the lines of the amount business they were having. I was a bit taken aback because at this time there were plenty of available tables and there were no lines so I almost felt he was denying us additional services. I pointed to an availability table near by and said what about that one he responded with, you can sit there… and pointed to a cornered area with a smaller ledge like table along the fenced area… and with all those available tables. We declined and he seemed completely unbothered by this and the fact that we had someone just standing there and he went on his way.
When a gentleman came by to clearly our table we asked for our check, despite we had just ordered another drink. He was friendly and engaging asked if we were okay. Because of this I asked if he was the manager. He said no but asked if we needed one. At first hesitating, because I just wanted to leave, I said yes. And wouldn’t you know it, the same gentleman that didn’t want to move us showed up. He couldn’t more pleased that he was the one to address our concerns. When I expressed our dissatisfaction with how things were handled, he was just as detached and aloof as the first interaction. He did say he was sorry in and interested sort of way (oh well I’m sorry), and then with no time to waste and a bit of arrogance asked, will that be all.. Eiuro is the name. If you’re going to manage I suggest you take training on customer service Euro. You make this...
Read moreCame in to have dinner with a few of us who are visiting from Spain, and I must say this is one of the worst experiences we've had since we landed in America. What started out as a nice experience quickly turned upside down, we are not from here so we had a few questions about different things on the menu as far as allergies and another one being about pricing. Our server acted like they really didn't want to be there, and at one point they didn't have an answer and they said that they would go ask their manager. So she goes over and mentioned something to a blonde lady sitting at a table, I'm not sure if she didn't think we would see it but she immediately rolled her eyes and had such a foul look on her face it made me not even feel comfortable sitting anymore but I didn't want to ruin everyone else's time. So she strolls over with the most cold uninviting demeanor, almost as if she didn't even want to interact with us and answered the questions in a very snarky and aggressive manor. This made the whole experience horrible, your prices are very high compared to other restaurants in the same market you are located in and for the experience to be as unacceptable as it is we could have chose to spend our money somewhere else and not have to put up with this kind of behavior from "management", I'm not sure if it's because we were tourists and not from the country but I will never be back and I urge anyone reading this review to think about spending your money at a more deserving establishment because this restaurant clearly doesn't want people to...
