So far I've been here three minutes and noticed the look of intolerance. I asked for a menu item and was told they don't have any right now. It will take 15 minutes to cook. When I suggested that I wait until the item was prepared I received a different look of disdain. When I mentioned the sign for a free torta I pointed it out to my friend and everyone looked at me simultaneously with a shocked look. Then I realized it's in Spanish and I wasn't supposed to be able to read that. I don't want it but still... Maybe one is an oversight but all four? I was also offered my free drink as an option. This food must be awesome and everyone must only eat what they see on the line. The food was pretty good. I'm not a fan of potatoes at all so I didn't enjoy that as a filler for the protein. A new experience I don't want to have again. Side note, a homeless mentally challenged woman came in to purchase some food. She was outlandish to say the least. She was finally served ahead of her turn and given her food. She immediately began eating. She asked and continuously asked for her drink then the owner ordered her to leave. She told him she paid for a drink and that's all she wanted. He didn't care, he just wanted her gone. The lady that took her money (reminding that she's still a paying customer) came from the back, as all the other employees were telling the owner she didn't buy a drink, and pointed out the drink on the other side of the counter. No one apologized. She took her drink outside and finished her food outside the door and walked off. The problem the owner had was her attire. No issues...
Read moreI recently went to this bakery with my five-year old grand-daughter. I asked the Manager if my grand-daughter could use the restroom and that I would be glad to purchase a bakery item as the sign posted on the wall said "restroom for customers only." I was told no she could not use the bathroom even when I offered to buy a whole cake! At this point my grand-daughter began to cry and was going to wet her pants. Both ladies behind the counter just stared at us without any concern for a crying child. I am pretty sure they have children in their life and have been in this exact situation. I ran down with my grand-daughter holding her pants to a nail salon located in the same shopping center. The ladies welcomed us in, said no problem to using the bathroom. They were so nice to us!! Shame on you Rubio's Restaurant and Bakery!!!!!!!!! I could see you denying an adult but a small child just takes the cake in my book!
I would give this business a...
Read moreWanted some tasty, affordable food for lunch so decided to try this spot. Was disappointed there were no vegan menu options. Not even a veggie burrito. So I decided to make a plate with some of their vegetarian sides: fried plantains, boiled yucca, and beans&rice. I think it was a bit overpriced as I paid $10 which I think is the same or a little more than their plates with meat.
I specifically asked if the beans had meat in them and was assured they don't. When I got home I discovered sausage in the beans so it's too bad I won't be able to order them again. I probably won't be going again if all I can get is plantains & yucca. :(
Wish they'd offer some vegan options ... beans don't need to have meat in them ... could offer a veggie burrito and sandwich ... Mexican rice without shrimp mixed in. And also the servers should know what's in their food so they're not misinforming customers (e.g. saying there's no meat in the beans when there...
