When I first tried Scoops Westside (brown brown bread, helllo!) I was smitten. In love. Gaga, in fact. I'm not an ice cream person, but wow. Then, the days passed and I dreamed of my new love. Such unique flavors - balsamic vinagrette, lemon basil, etc. Then months, and I still didn't see her. You see - ours was doomed from the start as a cross-town love. I'm a DTLA gal, she's a westside beauty. And it just wouldn't work. That was years ago, and like many ill-fated long-distance relationships, me and Scoops Westside just couldn't make it happen. That 10W traffic just... kills,.. your..soul! And yes, for you non-LA folk, DTLA to westside is indeed a long distance relationship.
As I was eating at Chego! (same plaza, 2 doors down), I looked over and my eyes lit up. my lunch date said, yeah, same as westside. O.M.G. Just like her older cousin, but so much hotter! Chinatown Scoops is my new jam.
Same great, unique flavors, new hip location in the up-and-coming Chinatown. Friendly service. Instead of brown brown bread, they have bianco bread, with a crunch in it. I personally loved the passion fruit mixed and the basil. Served with a cone, it simply brought me back.
Ice cream itself is not too sweet, and very yummy. Try it, you won't be disappointed!
Tip: park in the underground lot and validate for free! There's Chego! and Pok Pok wings in the same bustling plaza! Chinatown is the new it...

I was quite surprised to see that a Scoops existed in the middle of Chinatown. Odd - definitely. Nonetheless, I went in for a taste and came out with a Coconut Rum scoop in a cup.
Was it good yes. However, the taste was awfully familiar. The Coconut Rum, having no Rum taste at all, resembled and had the flavor of a Coconut Mexican Paleta. While Mexican paletas are solid; when it melts and begins to lose its solid texture tastes exactly like the Scoops ice cream I had.
The thought that they simply got a whole bunch of Coconut Mexican paletas and mashed them and put them in a tub did...
Read moreThe most creamiest ice cream in Los Angeles. They have the most sophisticated flavors I have ever tried. As for service, the staff were the nicest people ever. They made sure that the flavor I picked was the one I would like the most. They offered many samples to ensure this. They are located in a small shop in the Far East Plaza in chinatown. Though the room is small, they have perfectly decorated the place to create a great atmosphere for ice cream. Over all, I highly recommend this ice cream parlor. Please drop by and taste the great flavors they...
