Iāve been a loyal and enthusiastic customer at Superba for a while now - it's been my go-to coffee shop, and Iāve always looked forward to treating myself to their iced vanilla latte, which is typically served as a beautifully crafted pour-over. If youāve had it, you know what I mean: the kind of latte that arrives as a layered blend of colours and flavoursānot pre-mixed, but artful and nuanced. Thatās the version I fell in love with, and at $7.50 (plus tip), Iāve always felt it was worth it. For about ten days straight, the drink was made perfectly every single time. But two days ago, a new staff member mixed the drink before serving it. It might seem like a small thing, but it completely changes the flavour and experience. I politely asked for it to be remade, and it wasāno issue (I was dealing with another staff member who talked to me about the remake). Today, however, when the same thing happened, I gently brought it up again to another staff member. To my surprise, the woman who mixed it last time interrupted the conversation and very rudely told me that I have to warn them not to mix itāotherwise, next time, Iāll be charged again if I want it remade. It felt incredibly dismissive and awkward. Iāve never had to āwarnā a barista not to tamper with the standard way a drink has been made for days beforeāespecially not at a place that usually prides itself on care and attention. This experience left me feeling embarrassed and frankly unwelcome in a place I used to really enjoy. I donāt know how to come back from that. I still love the coffee, but no one should have to feel humiliated over a drink order they were...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat coffee and nice staff but the freaking WORST GRAIN BOWL IāVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!! The grain bowl contains rice, egg, broccoli, kale, carrots, and radish. I added chicken and avocado which costs in total $17. The rice is very cold and hard. The egg and avocado are fine. The broccoli, the kale, the radish, and the carrot are completely raw. The carrots are not even cut, theyāre like huge pieces. The broccoli is very cold and yellow and not fresh. The chicken is dry and cold. I had to slice the carrots myself, and cook everything myself. Iāve had their croissants and coffee before, and tried the grain bowl from Pasadena Superba before and enjoyed them very much. But gosh this grain bowl is worse than my 3-min microwaved food. Overall, very disappointing experience with the grain bowl from this NoHo Superba. Other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe burrito is literally, just okay. There's nothing that stands out about it, in fact, if it weren't for the flavor of the green sauce they give on the side, I'd probably give the burrito two stars. It's on the smaller side and definitely not worth $11 in my opinion. You can get a better and bigger burrito with more flavor from somewhere else for a similar price. So if you're coming here for the burrito and have other food options nearby, I would say this is a hard pass. Because of how lackluster The burrito was, I would be reluctant to try anything else, but maybe burritos are just not their forte.
Also they do charge some sort of wellness fee on top of the price of the food. Something to keep in mind as you will not know about this fee until after...
