DO NOT TRUST THE HYPE!
Quite possibly one of the worst bacon, egg, and cheese bagels I've ever had. Went to this place based on the glowing reviews, and could not have been more disappointed. The eggs, as far as I could surmise, were microwaved in a cup with the cheese on top. Are you kidding me? In what world is that okay? Awful consistency and the cheese was obliterated. The bacon also felt like rubber and I'd estimate it was at least a couple days old. The bagel itself was neither crunchy on the outside nor fluffy on the inside (the ideal texture of a bagel), it was just dense all around.
Why do people keep coming here? Why is the line so long? Who are you people that keep validating this place? Have you ever tried a bagel before this god forsaken establishment came to existence? These are the questions that I can't escape because it is so jarring. Maybe they had an off day when I visited, but I find their technique deplorable and I would never recommend this place, even to my worst enemy. I'd rather never eat a bagel again then come back to Bagel Broker one more time. I'd love nothing more than to see...
Read moreGREAT BAGELS AND MORE! This place was an answered prayer. After moving from NYC, I am thrilled to have FINALLY found a bagel place. Their bagels are fantastic and the real deal, best I've had outside of NYC. Their chicken salad and tuna salad are to die for. Their pickles are great, too. Everything is so fresh you may swoon in deliciousness. The coleslaw is great. Everything tastes like a wonderful Jewish deli promises. The only con to this place? That they aren't all over the L.A. area. I simply wish they had more locations. The sandwiches, the service, just entirely impeccable. My NYC-native boyfriend and I can't stop talking about how happy we were to discover this place. We just wanted a quick bite before attending a taping of Late Late Night with Craig Ferguson. This deli doesn't have many tables so I suppose most people order it for takeout and nosh it at home. All I know is that it's the best, freshest food I've had in L.A. and it frankly renewed my faith in the food in this town. Also, the staff is impeccable. They make me feel so special and valued...
Read moreI stood in line as a sad NYC bagel skeptic, expecting just another airy bagel or what I call a kaiser roll with a hole in the middle. A bagels merit is based on a NYC standard, untoasted with shmear. Sure, you can make a great 'sandwich' out of your airy bagels and call them awesome, but you are rating a sandwich, not the bagel. I ordered an onion bagel, untoasted, lowest expectations as always. One bite in, ,, ok, ,,, ok... uhhh yes, yes,,, yes, then another yes. The bagel was perfect, had the crisp exterior that's so hard to duplicate and dough that squished with density. The flavors kept coming. By my last bite I had a tear in my eye, I realized I've been starved of a great bagel for 25 years. I went back, ordered another and experienced the same effect. Finally, a bagel in California worthy of its namesake and could be honored by any spoiled NYC unapologetic bagel snob like myself. Thank you, I'm finally humbled, the order of life...
