Picture it, folks: the sun is shining down on a busy corner of town, and there's a delightful joint called The Stand just waiting for the Brady family to pull up in their signature station wagon. The moment we step inside, we're greeted with a burst of colors—bright blues and cheerful yellows—making it feel like we've landed in the 1970s again, but with a modern twist!
The hustle and bustle of families enjoying their meals echoed in the background, as Carol, dressed in her classic flower-print dress, grinned at the kids and exclaimed, "Oh, what a charming place this is!" She was absolutely right! The decor is a whimsical mix of retro diner and beach vibes, complete with surfboards adorning the walls and a jukebox that just might play “The Sunshine Day” if you squint hard enough.
As we settled into our booth—a cozy little nook that would make Mike Brady proud—Bobby eagerly scanned the menu. The choices were vast, reflecting the fun and variety of the Brady family itself! From burgers stacked as high as Greg’s dreams of becoming a rock star to fresh salads that made Jan wonder if she was healthy enough to fit into her favorite bell-bottoms, the options were deliciously overwhelming.
Marcia couldn’t resist the “Brady Burger,” a mouthwatering creation piled high with all the fixings—including cheese, lettuce, and a special sauce that practically sings a tune of its own. As she took a big bite, she smiled, “It’s a ‘Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!’ kind of burger!” You could practically hear the theme music playing in the background.
Peter, of course, went for the loaded fries, which seemed to have more toppings than the family’s total number of pets! “These are out of this world!” he shouted, while Cindy attempted her best impression of a food critic, announcing, “They’re crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, just like Dad's famous meatloaf, but a lot less mysterious!”
As we enjoyed our feast, Alice popped in from the kitchen, her apron clad with flour, sporting a smile that could brighten any room. “What do we think, kids?” she announced mischievously, “You know I can whip up a mean and delicious milkshake to wash that down! How about chocolate or vanilla?” The kids squealed in unison, “Both!” And just like that, the milkshakes appeared, outshining any dish served on this culinary escapade.
By the end of our meal, even Carol couldn’t resist saying, “What a lovely place to be together as a family.” The Stand not only delivered heartwarming food but also offered an atmosphere that brought the whole Brady bunch together. We checked the time, realizing it was time to head home, but not before a quick family selfie outside, the neon sign glowing like a beacon of shared joy.
So here's the scoop: If you ever find yourself in search of a groovy spot that resonates with family values and delightful dishes, make a pit stop at The Stand. It’s a place where both tasty burgers and unforgettable memories come together—just like the Brady Bunch! Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to plan our next big adventure. Aaaaand...
Read moreBeware when ordering from this place. While they are good about sending texts to confirm your order, that doesn’t mean they’ll actually make your order.
Ordered 3 sandwiches, wasn’t informed until we arrived to pick it up that they didn’t make 1 of the sandwiches because they were out of turkey. Idk why they didn’t bother to inform us of that in advance. Since we didn’t have 10 extra minutes to wait (the whole reason for ordering in advance for pickup), we ended up going with 1 person left without food. While they refunded that sandwich, still, very poor customer service. Will never go back.
UPDATE - IT GETS WORSE!: We were impressed that The Stand responded very quickly after seeing this review. After contacting them, they refunded us the full amount of our order, and then also gave us a gift card for a future order. That was great! BUT... then we placed another order, also for carryout, this time using their app instead of the website. We noticed that now the app specified that they were out of turkey and out of BBQ, so we ordered 3 sandwiches, none of which had those ingredients. And guess what... SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN! They made 2 out of 3 sandwiches, did not tell us there was any issue, and told us that they were also out of short ribs only when we arrived to pick up the carryout order. SO... Really, do not expect them to fulfill your order. I guess I can say that it's only meat that they seem to not have at all, so if you stick to vegetarian choices, maybe you'll be OK. IDK, really, nothing they can do at this point will make us...
Read moreThis is hands down my favorite burger restaurant. Unfortunately as the closest location is almost 40 miles from where I live I don't get to eat here very often. I keep asking them to open a location in the South Bay specifically in South Redondo where there is a vacated former Smashburger restaurant. Hasn't happened yet. Recently I was in the Valley I was looking forward to going to the Encino location which was right down the street from where I was. Unfortunately this happened to be the week that it was closed for remodeling. As I had had my heart set on one of their burgers I spent 35 minutes in rush hour traffic to drive 10 miles to their Canoga Park location. It was worth the drive. Like everyone else their prices have gone up since covid. They've also removed a couple of my favorite menu items like the brussel sprouts which I hope will eventually come back. Their portions are still good and the quality has not decreased as it has it many of my other former favorite places to eat. If they had a location in the South Bay in Redondo Beach or Torrance or El Segundo I would be there at least once a week. We do not have any good places like The Stand in the South Bay! Simzzys is the only one that is similar. It's not convenient to get to parking is a nightmare and it's quite a bit pricier. The Stand is not just about burgers. They make great sandwiches, salads and shakes, and they also have a good selection of beer for those who are...
