I was completely blown away by The Good Good! This is some of the best food I’ve eaten in LA. The Meat & Potatoes sandwich with avocado mash and the Truffled Spinach & Mushroom Meat sandwiches were both wholly original and utterly delicious. The bread on both sandwiches was fresh baked homemade and worth the trip alone. Crunchy on the outside, light, soft and chewy on the inside, the bread with a little jam and almond butter could be its own focus. The house made specialty mushroom meat is a savory blend of several different mushroom varieties that does not try to imitate meat, but manages to blow Beyond and Impossible out of the water with its deep, rich umami flavors, juicy texture, and real food recognizability. I took home the savory croissant and cherry almond butter muffin and had them both eaten by evening. I found The Good Good almost by chance, but I’ll be telling everyone I can to get to this place. The food is so high quality, has huge flavors, and no one else is really doing what the Good Good is doing with their menu. Go support this new restaurant! I don’t know the owners at all, I just really love this place and want to...
Read moreThis place is a wonderful hole-in-the-wall. The food is GREAT, wonderful flavor that definitely surprised me. I got the 'meat' and potatoes bowl, an iced latte, and a couple baked goods (cherry almond butter muffin and savory mushroom croissant). I will definitely return for the food - zero doubt. The place itself is a bit tough to spot from the street and parking in front is tiny - recommend street parking, which is plentiful all around. Service was nice. Why not 5 stars? The baked goods case had some flies flying around inside, the music was very loud, and no wifi available for customers (even though it was listed as available on Yelp, weird). The bathroom is not the cleanest but at least one is available. The outside seating area is shared with the businesses next door. My intent was to get some work done here over lunch but this is not the place for it given lack of internet, loud music, and loud outside seating (many people/tables, right on a bust street). Maybe future post-covid visits will bump this up to a 5-star - but for now, I can't wait to return to try out...
Read moreYum! :) The food is DELICIOUS and the owner is super kind and beautiful - you can tell she cares about her restaurant/customers! Knowing that I'm supporting a small business that was born of passion makes the food taste that much better. (They opened 6 months before the pandemic and are still going strong; That says something!)
Some of the dishes are Armenian-inspired and others are comforting sandwiches. I got the Truffle Melt, "Meat" and Potatoes, and the Creamy Cilantro Seaweed salad! Everything was delicious and I love that the "meat" is made of delicious/healthy mushroom mix instead of some kind of soy meat. The sandwiches were very filling and the salad was fresh, raw and served in a large portion. They also serve non-tap water which shows they're truly conscious about they put out.
When I'm in the area, I'll definitely be back again! Excited to try everything else...
