Yama Shisha — Restaurant in Los Angeles

My friends and I had a very disappointing experience at Yamashisha over Labor Day weekend. I had heard good things about the place and wanted to check it out for me and my friend's birthdays, especially since the views looked amazing. To make a reservation, you have to message them on Instagram. My friend, who had previously visited for hookah, DMed them and confirmed a reservation for 12:30 a.m.

On the night of our reservation, we noticed that all the Instagram messages, including our reservation confirmation, had been unsent. Despite this, we decided to go since I was visiting from out of town and was eager to see the place.

When we arrived at 12:40 a.m., the host, Maria, told us we couldn't be let in because, according to them, the reservation was for 11:30 p.m. We asked to see confirmation of the reservation from their end, but they could not provide it. The host was unhelpful and unwilling to let us wait for a spot to open up, even though we saw people leaving within the five minutes we were speaking to her. After failing to show any proof of an 11:30 p.m. reservation, the host stopped talking to us and instructed the security to "clear out the area," referring to us. This felt extremely disrespectful, and we decided to leave.

Afterward, my friend reached out to the business on Instagram again. Eventually, someone responded and offered complimentary hookah for the host’s unprofessional behavior. However, after the terrible treatment we received, we were not inclined to return.

Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience. I felt disrespected and belittled for simply asking for assistance. I am not familiar with the area or such establishments, but the staff’s behavior was completely unacceptable. Mistakes can happen, but we should not have been treated in such a manner. Even the valet attendants were rude. If the staff is encouraged to be unprofessional to maintain an illusion of exclusivity, then I would rather not patronize this...

I'm completely disappointed with the recent service and behavior my friends and I have encountered this past weekend, specifically from Maria and the two security men. I've made a reservation for 12:30 in advance (days before) and confirmed the time via Instagram with Ali. However, once my friends and I arrived to the location, Maria told us our reservation was at 11:30 and not 12:30. I went on instagram to trace the messages and saw that all my messages with Yamshisha were deleted/Unsent by their account (Again, I'm a usual customer and have been in contact with this account). I asked Maria if she can contact someone and look into the messages. She denied helping us and was completely being rude and even began to ignore us the entire time we asked for help. She even went to the security men and told them to "clear the area" AKA saying to make my friends and I leave. Not to mention that they even closed the door directly in front of us via their staircase entrance.

The fact that they only use instagram for reservations is 100% suspicious and not reliable. They are willing to put the fault on YOU and behave disrespectfully. It was more unfortunate because we had people from out of town come too and were given no attention or help.

After calling the Yamshisha account multiple times via instagram, Ali picked up and offered to finally take care of us (once we already headed out and left the city). However; we felt completely uncomfortable to go back and encounter Maria and everyone else who was being disrespectful to us that night. I'm uncertain whether I'd want to go back and risk experiencing that service and behavior again in the future. Same goes for all my other friends who used to go to this location regularly. We came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and from start to finish the experience was absolutely amazing. The service alone deserves a 10/10! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and seated instantly with no wait time, which was such a nice surprise. The entire staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and having the best time possible.

What really stood out was how attentive and accommodating everyone was. They checked on us multiple times throughout the night, making sure we had everything we needed without ever making us feel rushed. It truly felt like they cared about making our experience special.

I especially want to give a huge shoutout to Ahmad, Mustafa, and Valentine. They were the absolute sweetest and most down-to-earth people — super professional, but also so friendly that it felt like we were being taken care of by friends. And I can’t forget to mention one of the guys who honestly looked just like The Weeknd — he had us all smiling and added so much fun to the night with his vibe and energy!

Being from out of town, we honestly weren’t expecting service at this level, and we were blown away. We’ve been to a lot of places, but nothing compares to the hospitality we experienced here. This place not only gave us an amazing birthday celebration but also created memories that we’ll always cherish.
