My husband and I went here for my Birthday, we had never been before and weren't sure what to expect. Upon entering the building it seemed nice, clean, well lit, but mostly empty, of both patrons and staff. It was a random Thursday evening, they probably get more weekend business. A casually dressed woman who was bringing a To-go order to the front saw us and asked if we were there for dining or pick up and showed us to a table. Once there the waiter got our drink orders and took our order once we'd browsed the menu. I ordered the Crazy Dog sushi roll, and it was delicious, if a little large for my mouth. We were also served clear soup and the typical salad. The soup was tasty, I know from past experience I don't like the salad with ginger dressing so my husband ate mine and his, he had no complaints.
Once the Hibachi chef arrived the show began, he did all the typical stuff, egg in the hat, big fire, volcano made of onion, it's fun to watch. The fried rice was made first and was delicious, then the veggies went on and we're dressed and tossed and then moved to the side to cook slowly while everything else was made. The noodles were sauced and tossed, and then the meats were cooked. I didn't care for the noodles, but my husband liked them, next time I'll just sub more rice. We had ordered the chicken and steak. They were both good, but I preferred the chicken, it was perfectly cooked and had a delicious sauce on it. The steak was just seared and had little flavor. The veggies were served last and were so yummy! The zucchini bites were my fave as the broccoli was still a bit underdone and crunchy.
The pics attached are what I brought home, I had eaten a whole meals worth of food already and that was what I had leftover!
Overall a nice restaurant with good food. The portions are massive so you'll definitely have leftovers to take home. The staff was friendly and attentive, and it was a...
Read moreThe Dakota is gone though I heard alot about the Dakota experience I've never been there.
I noticed the sign changed a bit ago. New restaurant Misaki looks like it's owned by the same ppl that own Haiku on hwy 21 by Winn-Dixie.
The place is very clean and clean... Theres not much on the way on entertainment tho.... Theres only 2 tvs I saw one in the main dining area, the other at the bar... Maybe not the best place to go on game nights. There's 3 hibachi tables. I did not experience hibachi on this trip
Items tried were the Bourbon roll apparently the top 3 based on the attendant( burning man roll and 21 roll were the others stated. The lychee sake tini, fried cheesecake and the miso soup
I was SUPER EXCITED about fried cheesecake on the menu and immediately ordered it. ZEN in Mandeville only other place I've ever seen it. I was skeptical about the strawberry glaze but it made it even better 1000% must have.
Theres rolls named after the state and many of the surrounding cities which I found unique and very perceptive.
The Bourbon roll is fried, I've never had a fried roll before. It's delicious except too large ull struggle to get it into your mouth. A bite and the insides are spilling out.
The tini was okay I think the pearls were the best part too it.
Miso soup was delicious and chunkier than alot of other miso soups.
The only reason I didn't rate 5* bc i noticed mine and a few of the other tables weren't having dishes eaten dishes picked up. I included a picture of it. I'm sure that'll get fixed but an inherent problem if a large table with lots of items is inbound.
Other than that everything was excellent. Welcome to another great place on the Northshore. If u like sushi or hibach COME ON IN!
Finally had hibachi here. Hibachi prices are good and the chefs have a few new tricks I haven't seen yet... I don't know how I feel about their yum yum version tho, it's chunkier and...
Read moreService was amazing. Waiters were extremely kind. We had 2. They made us very comfortable and seemed to really enjoy their jobs. They joked and played with the kids and recommended food from the menu. Did i mention how great the service was?! Yeah, like it was really wonderful service, which leads me to the not so good portion. The only reason I did not send my food back, was because of the wonderful service. We ordered appetizers, hibachi, sushi and dessert. The soup had hair in it, the salad had hair in it, the entree had hair in it, the drinks had hair in it. I am not sure if they wear hair nets but we ended up laughing everytime we checked our food as it came out, bc as soon as we would find a string of hair, my kids would say “Another one” So every single time the waiter would bring a plate to our table, we soon shouted “another one”. Food was ok. I’ve had better. It was kind of bland. But nothing that salt or soy sauce couldn’t fix. My complaint here isn’t to speak on the quality of food. I just need the cooks to secure their hair, bc we paid a good grip to say that we avoided most of our food and took it all home as not to offend the workers. So yeah. We may not go back. But this isn’t to discourage anyone else from going. Try it out. I’m a picky eater with spoiled taste buds. I am of african heritage and I come from New Orleans with a family of cooks. Typically, I need every bite bursting with flavor. So don’t take my word for it. The rest of these reviews can’t be made up. So give it a try. Just check your food and drinks...
