Everything we got, I enjoyed: The fried mini spring rolls were a nice appetizer while we waited. (...and the wait was not long at all.) I was told the Pho was GREAT here, so I'm not sure why I decided to order the LemonGrass Chicken. My friend got the Shrimp Pho. We split the order of fried mini spring rolls (4).
Her Pho looked and tasted delicious - she had the additional vegetable added to her pho (broccolli, bok choy, etc). The broth (which is so important) was very good. I was not quite as pleased with my chicken, which was a bit tough and didn't look anything like the picture someone else had posted online somewhere. Maybe if my expectations had not been so high... It just wasn't up to par, but some added Hoisin Sauce helped save it.
Everything else was very, very nice -- including the Summer Rolls with Peanut Sauce (which is NOT on the menu, but served on request if they're not too busy). We ordered those as an after thought.
I will be back - I'll just remember to get what they are known...

Olympics opening ceremonies day seemed like the perfect time to try Northshore Empress for the first time. We ordered takeout and were told pickup in 25 minutes, went 5 minutes early, food was ready. But it was cold and old, as if it came off of a steam table with the heat turned off. The mandarin chicken and empress (general Tso) chicken both had great warm sauces on them but the generous portion of chicken itself was clearly cooked much earlier. The won tons and egg roll were not crispy at all. A few minutes in the air fryer made them edible. The potsticker was beyond redemption, a hard doughy mess with a pasty filling. The entrees were generous and inexpensive but the sides were relatively overpriced even if the quality had been better. Maybe we picked a bad time to order, we will go back again and hope for better quality. But no...
Read moreWhere to start? I really like the vibe of the restaurant. Its cozy and beautifully decorated with a friendly vibe. Was seated almost immediately. Our waitress was very lovely and accommodating. Had an egg roll that must have just been made it was delicious and hot as well as the sweet and sour chicken. This is by far one of the best Chinese meals I have had in mandeville. The sweet and sour chicken was so fresh and melted in my mouth. It came with friend wontons and egg fried rice. Great portions. Not a long wait. The food was delicious. When leaving was greeted by the owners or managers who couldn't have been more gracious and funny. Everyone was smiling and there were families all over. Very wonderful first experience and have been back since! My father goes there and gets shrimp pho with vegetables and enjoys it every single time. I WILL be...
