Coming from the north were I grew up with Aldi's here are some quick tips.
Bring your own reusable bags. I always keep them in my trunk so I always have them so you don't have to buy their bags.
Keep a quarter in your car so you can get a cart.
You put the quarter in the cart, at the register the cashier loads your items into the previous persons cart, and you leave your cart for the cashier to load the next person's items.
You can ask for someone's cart as they are returning it, but have a quarter to give them.
If someone offers you a cart, give them a quarter.
Yes I know $0.25 is not a lot of money. It's about always having a quarter in your car to get a cart, and since most people don't carry change around, it avoids the hassle of trying to find a quarter.
3.5) If you don't want to bring bags, and you don't want to purchase bags, you can pick up and use the empty boxes along the way. For example is there is a box with one bag of chips remaining, take the box and leave the bag of chips on the next full box.
For example they have Oreo type cookies with marshmallow instead of cream. Shows up in the store once a year, when they sell out, they are out till next year.
This also includes non food items like workout equipment, pizza pans, slippers etc.. once they sell out they don't come till the following year or maybe not at all if they weren't that popular.
I mean as soon as you walk into the store you're in an aisle, follow that flow throughout the store. Sure you might forget something or need to go back to an aisle but you can still go down the...
Read moreFirst time at a new Aldi location in my hometown. The infamous you have to pay for a cart right.
Very clean store with simple policies. I can see why. Store staff is way more active than any other place besides whole foods.
Cart policy makes sense deposit a quarter for your cart and retrieve it when u return. That prob cuts down on staff labor having to have someone fetch it and unnecessary accidents.
Unfortunately one thing that's lacking here is as actual deli or butcher sections many of their competitors in the area have such as rouses, Whole foods and windixie.
I do like they have ESLs that means pricing issues should be near non existent. As the tags highlight that and there's a clear deal section.
Parking and entering/ exiting will be the worst thing here. Unfortunately it's a terrible location for that. The closest exit with how busy they are has no light to direct traffic so you're forced to try to turn into a busy highway. You're better off driving thru office depot/ Planet fitness parking lot to escape where there's a light. Also the parking lot still smells of tar and is not level with several drop offs so be careful when entering and exiting the store.
*that isn't entirely aldis fault tho as there's multiple areas of construction around then. Hopefully that gets remedied soon
Glad to have another competitor on the Northshore. We will have them...
