A Flight Worth Taking, Again and Again
Five Stars, A Masterclass in Flavor, Balance, and Atmosphere
Some breweries simply serve drinks, others create an experience. Akasha Brewing Company belongs to the latter, offering not just quality brews but a setting where people gather, laugh, and settle in for something memorable. This is a place that understands its purpose, blending craftsmanship with atmosphere, turning casual visits into something far more lasting.
The value is evident the moment you order a flight, or two, as you should. Flights here are more than a sampling tool, they are a clever way to experience range, contrast, and harmony in one sitting. Every selection has intention behind it, every pour contributes to the full picture.
Measured by any intelligent standard, there are three metrics that define a brewery’s merit, flavor complexity, ingredient integrity, and balance across the menu. Akasha excels in all three.
Flavor complexity unfolds gradually. Lighter beers are crisp without being hollow, hop-forward selections strike a balance between vibrant and refined, while the deeper, malt-driven brews arrive with richness and smooth finishes that never cross into heaviness. Each beer plays a distinct role, building on the last, keeping the experience fresh from first sip to last drop.
Ingredient integrity is undeniable. The hops are clean and aromatic, elevating each pour without tipping into bitterness for the sake of it. The malts provide a steady foundation, delivering depth without the unwelcome weight that lesser brews so often suffer. There is clarity in each flavor profile, a sense that every ingredient has been chosen with care and executed with discipline.
Balance is the defining thread. There are no outliers, no novelty brews tossed in to pad the numbers. The tap list flows with intention, offering both contrast and cohesion, allowing you to chart your own path through the flight without a single misstep. It is a rare thing to find such range without a single weak link.
Akasha is not just a place for tasting, it is a place for staying. The open, welcoming environment encourages conversation, the presence of games invites a sense of play, and the overall atmosphere leans toward the unpretentious comfort that keeps people around longer than they planned. It is as much a social hub as it is a showcase of brewing craft.
A flight at Akasha Brewing Company is more than an order, it is a low-risk, high-reward investment in quality, variety, and genuine enjoyment. A place where you come for the drink, stay for the company, and leave with the thought that the next visit will be just as rewarding as the last.
Def a flight worth taking, again...
Read moreI was in town for a conference and visited as part of my usual process of seeing as much of the local craft beer scene as I can fit in with my conference duties. We actually ended up here by accident, having actually come here to go to Feast BBQ for dinner. We could not pass up the brewery next door. This was a fun place with good beer. We were on tasters only since it was six hours of facilitating trainings the next day, so we did not get to go through as much of the beer list as we liked. It is a relatively typical open-space brewery concept set up, although they have some areas with more comfortable relaxed seating and some games. The beer was a lot of fun to try. They have an English Mild on brett that was really interesting if you are one of those of us who know that almost all of those old traditional styles got stored in barrels contaminated with brett. This was probably as close to a traditional Mild of the old school that you will find anywhere nearby. The whole range of beer were very drinkable and the range includes something for everyone. The Fehr’s XL is an old school Louisville beer that they are bringing back, which is always nice to see. The Choco-Citra IPA was very good and nicely different from your standard Black IPA styles. They also had a couple of nice guest beers. The staff was great. The bartender was nice and put up with my beer-nerd questions (made worse because I was sitting next to another traveling beer nerd) long enough to get the brewer into the picture. Rick was nice enough to spend some time talking beer-nerdery and the local craft beer scene. This was definitely a great place to visit and it should be on any beer nerd travel list...
