Stopped for a late Monday afternoon lunch while visiting Louisville. Ordered a Sazarac Rye Old Fashioned for my wife and Buffalo Chicken salads for each of us. After closing out I was surprised by the drink price...$49. This was a single drink with a 2 oz pour of Sazarac. Had to ask our server if it may be a mistake. He was equally surprised to confirm that it was correct... and showed me that Sazarac was priced in the spirits menu for $46 a pour. Really? Why? Sazarac Rye is a decent rye, but nothing special. It retails just about anywhere for about $30 a bottle. I never would have expected that menu price and never saw a drink menu when ordered. Really who would have thought that I would even need one for that order. Had I seen a drink menu, I certainly would have picked something different. It's no different than walking into a bar, ordering a draft domestic beer and getting a bill for $40. Interestingly enough, not all the bourbons and ryes on their menu were priced out of line. We enjoyed the food, my wife enjoyed her drink, and our server was very nice. He even offered us a discount coupon but couldn't do much more. We thanked our server and left him a decent tip for good service... after all he didn't price the drink menu. I left there feeling kind of ripped off. It isn't the end of the world, but it is annoying. There are plenty of other good establishments that don't require you scour their menus for potential price gouging. I'll stick with those and...
Read moreDuring our visit to Louisville we took in the Marlon Wayans show at the Louisville Comedy Club (which shares the space with this bar). Because comedy show seating is first come first serve, we arrived early enough to grab a light food order and drinks. Initially, we ordered the smoked salmon dip, rum runner and old fashion. When the salmon dip was served, everything was freezing cold, including the pita. I mentioned it to the bartender and she said it's supposed to be cold. The cold dip is fine, but freezing cold pita is a no. A couple next to us was contemplating a food order, so they inquired if that was in fact the salmon dip. I explained that it was, but comes with freezing cold pita. I went ahead and ordered french fries to at least put something on my stomach because the salmon dip was a huge "NO". Eventually, I spoke with the other bartender (I believe his name was Shane) and he listened to understand. He went a step further after looking at and feeling the still cold (after sitting at room temperature) pita and removed the salmon dip and rum runner. The stars are particularly for the bartender that understood customer service and brand. I would try again when in town, only because of the second server listened...
Read moreAs a long-time Louisville visitor from Illinois, i consider your town easily my favorite city. I came in expecting to really enjoy a great meal and a couple of drinks to unwind . Self seated on the window due to the restaurant being packed ,waited 15 min to not be acknowledged. Walked to the bar to let the help know we were there and got a Lil annoyed blonde say ok, we're slammed, and we will get there! Finally, get a drink and food order in and wait another 15 min . I walked out and grabbed my own water from my truck . Appetizers came out fresh and large portioned ! Order came out. Spot on... best burger I've had in town ! Then, the kitchen sent our appetizers out again and then our order ( not ordered again) we ordered another round of drinks and requested to close out and waited 15 min on the bill . When the irritated blonde snapped the bill into my fiancé's hand, I was surprised at the spicy attitude! I left the cash at our seat. I've never been served or treated like this in a restaurant or bar by the help ever . Great food and drinks ! ....Honestly, I wish you good luck with your business if this woman keeps it up. She's not a great representative for your ...
