My colleague and I were in Louisville for a work trip and stopped in yesterday afternoon for a drink and appetizer. Everywhere was packed due to a concert downtown, however this place was relatively dead so he and I went in. We sat at the bar and ordered/received our drinks fairly quickly and asked for a minute to look over the menu. That is where the service ended. There were two white couples sitting on one side of us and three white women sat on the opposite side about 20 minutes after we arrived. Both groups were attended to while my colleague and I each tried to get the attention of the red headed female bartender - who would not make eye contact and openly ignored our attempts to call her over, when she was less than two feet away. The three women were actually able to get through a full meal, appetizers and all, while my colleague and I sat there. The only difference between us and the other patrons is my colleague is black. We tried not making it too much of an issue, until both our drinks had been empty for quite sometime and clearly we were not going to be asked if we wanted another or to order food so I again tried getting her attention to pay the bill and was ignored yet again. I left a $20 on the bar and we walked out.
I'm unsure if she was uncomfortable seeing a white woman and a black man together, but it is the only explanation I can come to. I worked in the service industry for nearly a decade and our experience yesterday was not due to being slammed or running around, as all of the white patrons were being served and attended to. She was not all the way across the bar when trying to get her attention, she was literally one chair length away and facing our direction, yet she still acted as though we were not there. I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone, unless...
Read moreWe just left the Corner bar without any service and having waited 45 minutes just to order a ginger ale and a mimosa. We were stranded after the Louisville Bats game and fireworks. We simply wanted a place to relax after the heat and this bartender ruined our Louisville experience. The bartender whose first name was A.J. was by far the most inefficient, feckless, and disrespectful person, who should Never Ever work a bar. We wait 30 minutes and he acknowledged us, and immediately dismissed us. Two gals who pushed in after us were served. They told this A.J. to help us. I ordered and he repeated my order in a mocking voice…..and immediately left the bar for 12 minutes. When he came back he ignored us and started cleaning the glasses, also ignoring the 6 predominately white people who had ordered or trying to get his attention. I don’t want to hear about him being the only bartender working. It was not crowded. As I was speaking with others waiting, several people mentioned they were visiting the city. His actions left an ugly and indelible scar on what should be Louisville’s redemption and rebirth of itself. This man should be fired immediately for his callous attitude. I will follow up this story on local and social media. Shame on Corners at the Loft on Main Street,...
Read moreThe Corner Restaurant is an absolute gem in Downtown Louisville, and it all starts with the incredible hospitality from the team. The excellent manager, Gustavo, made my experience feel extra special, constantly checking on everyone with a warm smile and positive attitude that truly sets the tone for the whole place.
The lovely, wonderful and charming servers, Jaicee and Amanda, were absolutely amazing! Always smiling, incredibly fast, attentive, and made sure I had everything we needed. They genuinely gave me the best dining experience i’ve ever had in the area.
And let’s talk about the food, WoW! Hands down the best fries in town, perfectly crunchy, seasoned just right, and absolutely addictive. The Wagyu burgers were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection , and the chicken wings were simply amazing. Pro tip: don’t forget to ask for their variety of sauces, they elevate everything to the next level!
If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by The Corner Restaurant. You’ll love the atmosphere, the people, and the food. I can’t wait...
