I want to start out by saying this has no reflection out the wait staff at this establishment what so ever. We have always have great service in terms of waiters. My family and I have been a customer of Chuy's for years. My mother in law more so than any of us and she is the one that got all of us going, specifically for the Elvis Fried Chicken years ago. After they did away with the dish after covid we would still go, not near as quite as often (which was 2-3 times a week) but would still go for good and and great service none-the-less. This past week we found out that they had Elvis fried chicken back for a very limited time! We went in on Thursday I believe and sure enough they had! Our one table alone probably ordered 5 of the Elvis Fried Chickens. It was great, awesome, no problem, our waiter informed us then that it would be gone Sunday and not back again until around the 1st of the year. We said we would be back to get it again of course! ( mind you, we did not see any promotional advertisements about the dish being back or anything, only through word of mouth anyway...which is weird ). We come back yesterday (sunday 7/7/24) to have the dish one final time until its gone again. Come in, pass the sign showing the Elvis fried chicken still available, seated outside due to "no tables inside available" which this was as dead as I've ever seen it here and we walked past multiple open tables to get outside, anyway. No issue we were happy to sit outside no problem. Come in order our drinks then food. Waiter puts in computer then comes back about 5 min later that they are sold out of elvis fried chicken.....explained how disappointed we were, and asked the server what exactly they were out of (because we have brought our own lays potato chips to have them make it before) and he wasn't sure and asked if that was a possibility they could do for us and they said no. I asked to speak with a manager just to show our disappointment. 10-15 min later i was coming back from the bathroom and "Jules" pulled me to the side and said "were you wanting to speak with me?" Instead of coming to our table in a timely fashion or waited until I sat back down she wanted to talk amongst other guests and employees on there steps into the dining room. So i explained to Jules how disappointed we were and blah blah blah and she took the ear fool only to not really smooth things over with us at all or give us correct information. She provided the information that they sold 35 of the elvis fried chicken that day while we were talking so i asked our waiter just to see if the numbers aligned how many he thought they had sold and he said the kitchen staff said they had sold 87!! From the way Jules was speaking to me and offering no kind of remorse or solution. I would have never asked for our whole meal to be comp'd or anything like that but something would have been nice! To run a special for x amount of days and run out just doesnt make since. Like the waiter said, it sounded more like they had already sent some of there kitchen staff home or already cleaned up that prep area for the night and wasn't willing to accommodate our orders. I will for sure find some where else to...
Read moreI've been going to Chuy's for about a decade. I know many in Louisville are biased against chain restaurants per se but Chuy's has an indisputably delectable menu that's meant to be shared with as many people as possible.
First off, the wait to be seated is reasonable, even at peak hours. The longest time I've ever waited has been 30-45 minutes when Chuy's was slammed -- and, even then, the text-based notification system allows you some freedom to traipse around outside until your time to be seated arrives, which may be advisable given how caloric most of the menu offerings tend to be.
Once seated, you'll get bottomless chips, creamy jalapeno dip, and salsa. While the salsa tends to be too acidic for my taste, it's worth a try each visit as sometimes the kitchen will curb the acidity.
Once it comes time to order, for my money the best thing on the menu is the bean and cheese burrito with boom boom sauce and Mexican rice. Many who have visited Chuy's with me, including some naysayers who had yet to try that specific order, agree. Depending upon how many chips you eat and depending upon how open you are to eating leftovers -- Chuy's keeps well, in my opinion -- one huge burrito may easily satiate two in one sitting, so consider that if you're on a budget. Finally, if the night is young and you're thinking you might be in the mood something sweet later in the evening, tres leches is hard to beat; it's a creamy cake soaked in milk, topped with caramel and strawberries, so it's pretty awesome.
Bottom line: if you're into Tex-Mex and/or a quirky decor, Chuy's is...
Read moreThis would be a 5 star review, and maybe we should have spoken to a manager. We almost left due to how the hostess treated us yesterday evening. My fiancé and I was finally able to venture out, my birthday was last weekend and due to weather we were unable to make our reservations at a local restaurant so we decided to celebrate late and have dinner at Chuy's after a game at the Putt Shack in Oxmoor mall. We arrived, it wasn't busy at all and the hostess asked how many and we told her two. She took us to a table that had a booth, but the other side had chairs and was literally sitting right now to another family. We just asked if we could sit in one of the open booths, and she rolled her eyes at us and said "ok, this is also a booth". I'm sorry, but you don't speak to customers that way. It was very offsetting to us, and just tossing our menus on the table and walking away made it worse. We were debating on leaving at that point because I don't want to dine at a place that I feel like a burden for asking a simple question. I'm far from rude, I understand the food service industry can be a challenge to work and people can be rude. I've done it. But this girl has no business being a hostess with such a hateful attitude. And it isn't like the restaurant was slammed and every table taken. Please work on how your employees speak to others. This would have been a 5 star review had we not experienced this one person. Our waitress and everyone else we dealt with...
