We had a great date night at Decade, a restaurant in the Butchertown neighborhood that blends industrial style with a modern, artsy vibe. The exposed brick and artwork give it a chic, but not pretentious, atmosphere. The menu is uniquely organized by plate size (small, medium, large) instead of traditional categories, which makes it easy and kind of fun to build a meal or share dishes. Some items had unfamiliar names, but our server was excellent; they were super friendly and knew the menu inside and out. It felt more like having a personal guide when they were able to explain things we didn’t know on the menu. One of the dishes we shared (which I highly recommend) was the Ricotta Agnolotti, which was so rich and satisfying (and the jalapeños weren’t that spicy for my wife which was good), and the bread was so good we ordered a second helping to take home! I also appreciated the beer list, which had selections from local breweries like Atrium all the way to basic options like Miller lite, so there’s something for everyone. If you’re looking for a stylish but down-to-earth spot for dinner or drinks, Decade is absolutely worth a visit!

Decade is a bougie place with an amazing menu of small, medium, and large plates. We sampled many of the appetizer offerings including the bread, cheese, olives, shishito peppers, and arancini, which were all excellent and on point. My main course was vegetarian. I stuck with the carrot risotto which was perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned. Other colleagues ordered the porchetta and the steak. The food was simply amazing. For dessert we shared the trio of ice cream, my favorite was the tart cherry, and the chocolate was excellent as well. We also tried the rye bread dessert. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The bar service offered a delicious variety of cocktails. What was equally as impressive as the food, was the wait staff, who knew everything about the food and beverage menu. An excellent dining experience. Next time I’m in Louisville I will return to Decade. This is an uncompensated, independent review.

Decade is an extraordinary culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you step inside, the refined ambiance sets the stage for a journey of culinary opulence. The menu offers a variety of meticulously crafted dishes, each a work of art that delights the senses. The presentation is impeccable, with vibrant colors and artistic garnishes. The quality of ingredients shines through, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to excellence. The attentive and knowledgeable staff adds to the overall experience. While Decade falls on the pricier side, it is a worthwhile investment for those seeking a truly remarkable culinary adventure. In conclusion, Decade sets a new standard for fine dining, offering an unrivaled experience that will leave you with lasting memories. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 stars)

Second time to eat here in 1 month because I can’t stop thinking about the medium mushroom dish with black garlic sauce. Pair this with focaccia bread and you’re on your way to being speechless. Take a bite of one type mushroom and savor— then try the other type of mushroom and have the epiphany that they tasted so synchronous and unique at the same time. Large meals are basically two meals— so suggest two medium and one large…good for two hungry people who only ate breakfast that day. The large meal we got was the chicken. Sweet baby Jesus, that chicken was crisped to perfection. It wasn’t the main event though- the lemon butter sauce was the true diva…as it should be. I was on the verge of devouring the sauce and risk one of my coronaries but I changed my mind when I realized I need to be alive to try the other dishes too. I’m looking at you Baby Beets. The mood was like being in a hallmark movie starring Lindsey Lohan but with a budget. I did go during Christmas season when the lights warmed your face all the way to nostalgia so not sure what the rest of the year looks like. When it gets busy, it does take longer for food to arrive. So shoot for 5:30 reservation, sit in one of the...

Overall, an underwhelming experience.

The service was fine but everything took forever. It took a long time for someone to come up to the host stand to seat us. It was long enough that, if we didn't already have a reservation, I would've just left.

It also took a long time to get water initially and for our server to come and take drink orders. From ordering to getting starters and food also took over an hour. All in all, we were there for over 2 hours and some of our party ended up leaving before the dessert order came because it was getting so late.

The food was just OK. The halibut dish was very small and it and the pork chop were overcooked. The burger was decent but nothing about it made it special enough to cost $20 (plus $9 for fries). There were a few items that were really tasty but nothing was good enough to justify the prices.

I'll also note that there were discrepancies between the prices on the website and the printed menus. For example, the ribeye online was $59 but actually $63 in the restaurant.

The ambiance was terrible. There was loud music and the space has lots of hard walls and ceilings so the conversation echos and you had to shout to talk to anyone...

They have done well with the interiors, even if I was a little too short for the bar (that's a me problem). The booths were cozy but not constricting. The biggest complaint when it comes to atmosphere is the fact when JBS gets going, you know it from inside. It could very well be my well-developed sense of smell, but I don't think that this is it. The service was wonderful. I sat at the bar before my friends came to dinner, and a too-tall for me bar/bar stool situation aside, it was a nice experience. The bartender was welcoming without being overly-solicitous. The server when we sat down for dinner was very friendly as well. She replaced our plates and utensils after every course, which was a nice touch, and the napkins were made of cloth (!!!) Now the food. The mushroom with the black garlic sauce was too die for. Most mushroom dishes can come off too salty for my taste, but this one was perfectly seasoned. And I could bathe in that black garlic sauce. Everything tasted really well. My one complaint would be that the servings are quite small. The foccacia bread was practically a roll. It was great tasting but it would not even...
