It pains me to give a 1 star, to a business I’ve been frequenting for 7 years. Me and the wife show up at 2AM, ID’s in hand. Door guy meets us inside as we walk in, checks ID’s. Proceeds to tell us they’re not gonna let anybody else in tonight. I confirm with him, they close at 4 and last call is at 3:30. I ask why they’re not letting anyone else in seeing it was only 2AM, as I’ve never experienced this ever at The Dive. He proceeds to tell me they do that now, to keep out the “riff raff”. Mind you, I was dressed in a button down, tie and slacks. The wife in a dress. I asked how they can determine who is the “riff raff”, and he proceeded to tell me they only let in people they know at night. He then walks up to the bartended and asks if he knows us, and if we can enter. The bartender declines. I ask him, “so it’s VIP only?” Door guy answers yes, and tells me it’s standard in Chicago too. As if that has any relevance to the situation at hand? Then proceeds to tell me he’s from the “L”neighborhood of Chicago and this is how it’s done. Clearly the guy isn’t from Chicago, and has no idea how to work a door at A DIVE BAR. Either change your hours, or change the name of your bar, because dive bars don’t have VIP lists. Extremely disappointed in the way The Dive is managed these days. I will definitely not be returning, and will not recommend it to my traveling...
Read moreThis Dive is the best, great for non locals n locals!, very very friendly I made friends very easy there I had so much fun I’ll spend about 4 hrs there just to socialize with everyone from KY. Great alternative/emo music karaoke nights are great they play great classic rock too!!! I love the art there the writing on the walls. Kinda off but my favorite spot is the bathrooms especially when your drunk trying to read the walls, they let me write on the walls. Only they erased it the next night I came in😒😊 no an issue tho it was just that it was my sons namewho I loveee an best friends name that had passed away.. but I’ll write their names again where I can have it on there forever. Only slight bother was tonight I did ask if I could write on the wall it was about 20 Mins before they closed an one of the bar tenders said no... kinda made me mad cuz it was writing I didn’t ask for another drink but it is what it is she was newer then the bar tender I met the night before which offered the chalk to me. Other then that I enjoyed my time there any time I come to Louisville I’ll always come here an no place else. I like comin in when there isn’t a huge crowd which can be be better around 12-4am little less people. But the ppl there drinking are just as nice. Come enjoy a night of drinking and singing great place...
Read moreOne of the worst experiences at a bar in years. I came into town for a girls night from Nashville expecting a great time and was severely disappointed. This "dive" bar charged $5 to enter the establishment and then the band proceeded to play 2 songs before they left. At first the bartenders were courteous, however the bartender with a pony tail, glasses and hooded sweatshirt was quick to aggravate multiple customers. She was not only rude to me but also several patrons in the vicinity. The most aggravating and insincere portion of the night included this particular bartender participating in banter then quickly changing her attitude once she cashed is out. When she received her generous tip, she quickly became rude, hostile, and abrasive. At this point, I have no intentions of ever returning to this establishment and I will alert my friends in the area to avoid this rude and abrasive bar. My intentions for a fun, girls weekend was NOT to be treated like garbage. Should this rude bartender report to a hospital requesting medical attention, I would not think twice before treating her as a human being rather than being rude and personifying any personal issues onto another...
