I recently visited this much-hyped holiday pop-up bar, and while the decor certainly delivered on its promise of being "decked to the halls," my overall experience fell short of expectations.
Before our visit we noted “Reservations are encouraged but not required, walk-ins welcome.” on their website. My husband and I arrived at 5 PM on a Tuesday, only to be turned away due to the venue being "fully booked," despite the restaurant being nearly empty with only a handful of guests. We explained that we just wanted to have a quick drink, but this request was denied, and we were offered a reservation for 9 PM. Frustrated as we had paid for parking, we left and found a neighboring spot to pass the time. While there, we checked OpenTable and were able to secure a reservation for just an hour later. Upon our return, the space was maybe half full, raising questions about the earlier refusal.
Once seated, the ambiance was undeniably festive, with stunning holiday decorations creating an Instagram-worthy backdrop. However, the experience didn't live up to the visuals. The server was polite but unremarkable, and disappointingly, the much-advertised leg-shaped cocktail glass that had drawn us in on social media was unavailable. Instead, we opted for the "All Spice and Everything Nice" cocktail. Unfortunately, it was a major letdown--overly sweet, lacking balance, and reminiscent of sugar water.
The saving grace of our visit was the waived cover charge on Tuesday nights. I would've felt even more disappointed had I paid $10 per person for the experience. While the decor is a treat, the lackluster drinks and confusing reservation policies make it hard...

Read moreFor some reason, the order taker (who simply takes our order at the front and does not do any other work), expected a tip from us. Her work was about a minute, and as a person with severe food allergies, we asked if there were any allergens in the food. When we didn’t tip (we usually tip the waiter, not the order taker), the order taker threw a fit, complained to us saying that “really, zero dollars after I did all that” (referring to finding out whether there are allergies or not in my food), and then pushed our order number stand and napkins to the side and swiped the card. The fact that for me, a matter of life and death (my severe food allergies), is put at the hands of an order taker’s frustration and anger by us not giving a tip for a minimal task highlights how poor the customer service is here. Additionally, we waited about an HOUR for the pizza to arrive, which should not take that long for two simple pizzas. The place is extremely loud and the tables are extremely small. Would NOT recommend coming...
