When we moved to Louisville earlier this year we'd never even heard of Zoe's. That being said, it is now one of our favorite places to eat. The Mediterranean/Greek offerings are very welcome in a landscape of burgers, sub shops, chicken eateries, and Mexican cuisine. Not that those are bad....it's just nice to get a break from that kind of thing once in a while.
We've been to this location 3 or 4 times, usually on a Friday afternoon/evening. The staff is usually busy hustling, and we tend to arrive shortly before the dinner rush starts. We've never had to wait in line, but we have had to suffer through "it's Friday, let's put a trainee on the register!" a time or two. That's OK, though. Everyone has to learn their job somehow. It just takes some patience for the person on this side of the counter.
The menu is huge and takes a bit of reading and understanding to know what you're getting. We started off with the Hummus Trio, which is AMAZINGLY good. In our visits I've had the Rosemary Ham & Mozzarella Piadina (more or less a grilled pita sandwich), the Mediterranean Chicken (my favorite entree so far), and the Steak Stack. All were very good. I always order mine with the Greek salad and use the Greek dressing that's available on the tables. You have to check out all the tables because some bottles of the Greek dressing have various oil-to-vinegar ratios.
Food delivery times are pretty decent, and we usually get ours in 10-15 minutes, and have never had a problem with an order.
Side note #1: the Greek Dressing is made on premises, and is quite possibly my absolute favorite salad dressing....ever.
Side note #2: They don't deliver silverware when your food is delivered. It's by the drink station. If you do like I did and go "Snap! I forgot silverware", they'll go get it for you.
The decor is very colorful, slanting towards the green, oranges, and reds. The chairs are molded orange plastic, and this location also has booths and tall tables (which we prefer). There is also outside seating near a fountain at this location, which is a nice touche.
In our visits this location is usually very clean. Since the staff cleans the tables and you don't there are times when they're so busy that the table cleaning may get behind. The staff is generally friendly and helpful.
We're glad we've discovered Zoe's kitchen. When we can't decide where to go, this place is...
Read moreFirst let me start with the menu and food that we had was very good 4-5 stars no doubt! The kabobs (chicken and steak), steak roll-up, and turkey sandwich, grilled potato salad, corn-were all full of flavor and fresh! A 5-star for giving and supporting with the military discount-great blessing!
The reason Zoes receiving a 2 star is due to cleanliness & professionalism-hoping that the owners see the low rating and address the concerns that would have made the dining experience a full 5-star. Our family arrived at 5:55pm (ticket #10080) and had 2 other guest in restaurant. The cashier was very nice and pleasant. She graciously acknowledged military discount and then called across the room to a lady who was literally laying in one of the booths and said she needed her help. We all were taken back by the worker laying in the booth. We proceeded to get drinks and the entire counter and floor was messy wet and dirty, tea urns had no tops, no regular straws. The lady that was laying down said that's all the straws they had and owners didn't want to order any other regular ones. We proceeded to find a table and could not find a booth that had been cleaned. All of them were soiled, the "bus your own table" area, dishes were stacked and dining room was not inviting. We enjoyed the delicious food and then the bathrooms (both) experience-both had trash running over, soiled toilets, urinal, and sinks. Our son said, I should have warned you before going in there... We are hoping and believing the owners review and make adjustments. This restaurant used to not be like this-not sure what happened. If the same family still owns Zoes, we know them and this does not represent them or how they would expect the workers to handle business and...
Read moreWhen we walked in, we were the only ones in the place. There were 3 workers behind the counter. The young lady who took our order was very helpful, and quite friendly. We ordered our food, and went to sit down to wait for our food to be done, and found that every single table was dirty. I grabbed some napkins to try to clean off one of the tables, but it was quite obvious that it needed more than a dry napkin. We asked for a wet rag to wipe a table down, and the employee handed us a rag and walked away. Food was good, but cleanliness was sub par at best. Both men and women's restrooms were dirty, and there were no towels in the men's room. Kitchen door was open, and when you exit the ladies room, you can see right in, and water was visible all over the floor. The entire time we were there, no one came out to clean any of the tables, the drink station, or the floor. Cleanliness goes far beyond what we as customers can see, so it concerns me that the standards are not high enough to maintain a safe level of sanitation to serve the public. We're just passing through, so they won't have to worry about us coming back, but someone should address the sanitation issues sooner,...
