I visited this restaurant for my friend's birthday some time ago, and it was a charming little spot. The decor was very Italian-inspired, which contributed to the overall ambiance of the place. It had nice big windows that let in plenty of natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. As for the food, some dishes were enjoyable, while others missed the mark. However, it's worth noting that the service was truly fantastic. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring everyone had a great overall experience. Heads Down, they really did have great customer service.
To start, we had Caesar salad and pizza, which were great, and the presentation was good, too. Alongside this order, we received a bread board for the table. Although it had a cute display, they provided a small piece of bread that barely had anything on it, which, in my opinion, was not worth the price. I think I took a small bite of the bread, and then I was done. Others mutually agreed; it just wasn't what we expected. When it came to the main course, I ordered scallops, and unfortunately, they were overcooked and lacked flavor. Out of the four scallops, I may have been able to eat one and a half because I just couldn't finish them. They looked like they would be delicious, but sadly, they did not meet our expectations. However, the desserts we had were great. The staff even brought out a special dessert for the person celebrating their birthday, which I thought was really thoughtful. The attention to detail in both presentation and service truly elevated the overall dining experience. I would say it was hard to give this rating because the service was truly excellent, but the food overall fell short in the few items we had; others at the table felt similar about their...
Read moreWe read the reviews here before we came, and decided to take a chance on a new restaurant; Long story short, a lot of these bad reviews seem to be from very miserable people… We thought so many of these reviews were pretty harsh and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would definitely come again. This restaurant deserves well above 4.1 stars from our experience. First of all, the ambience was really wonderful - lots of people, very lively, and really attentive service. We came in without a reservation, and I appreciated that the staff fit us in, but were transparent that they would need the table back in about an hour, so we would not feel rushed out. We ordered a bunch of food and it came out very quickly and was all very well done. Caesar salad was great, and was a huge portion split between the two of us. The chicken Parm was absolutely massive portion and was very juicy, perfectly cooked -we saw some complaints about the small pasta side, but it was not a pasta dish so we thought it was very fair, and again the chicken was massive. I also ordered the Bolognese, which was very flavorful and the pasta was al dente and the dish I thought was well done - again, a very large portion. We also got a pizza to share; the margarita was really good as an appetizer. We paid 135 before tip after two appetizers, two entrées, and two cocktails, which I do not believe was unreasonable, especially considering how much food we are also taking home as leftovers. The waitress was also super sweet and overheard we were celebrating, and brought us two complementary glasses of champagne. In summary, we think a lot of these reviews were very harsh and enjoyed our experience and...
Read moreCarina Sorella offers an exceptional dining experience, starting with its outstanding space and stellar waitstaff. The service was impeccable—my water glass was never empty, and finished plates were promptly cleared. The bar is beautiful, filled with beautiful people, and the atmosphere is lively, albeit a bit noisy; some sound absorption could help, but it’s not a major issue. The service and staff truly shine here! The wine and mixed cocktail selection is nice and inventive. We dined on a busy Saturday night in the summer. The Caesar Salad was delicious and large enough to share. The octopus was good; I enjoyed the spicing, though my husband did not. It’s not Dimitri’s, but no one makes octopus like he did back in the day. I had the tuna crudo, which tasted off to me—perhaps due to the oil or spicing—and the portion was tiny, with just 5 or 6 little pieces and a microgreen on top. My husband ordered the Chicken Parmigiana, which was enormous. A smaller portion with sides would have been better than a huge piece of breaded chicken with sauce and cheese, but we had leftovers for lunch and another dinner. The highlight was the tiramisu. Maybe consider starting with dessert first! The staff, managers, and the entire team were outstanding. As the same owner as Pub & Kitchen in Philadelphia, which I love, Carina Sorella has a talented kitchen staff. I would personally tweak the menu a bit and am eager to try the pizza, which looked delicious and might be the star of the show. Overall, it was a lovely evening and...
