As an avid fan of Indian cuisine, I decided to give Tiffin Indian Cuisine a try. Following my usual approach when visiting a new restaurant, I opted for some of the simplest and most traditional dishes: vegetable samosas as an appetizer, chicken tikka masala for the main course, and rice pudding (kheer) for dessert. The service was prompt—my food arrived within 10 minutes of being seated. One thing to note: you have the option to either sit and wait for a server or order at the counter. Starting with the samosas, they were quite good overall. Made traditionally with peas and potatoes, the only slight drawback was the strong presence of cumin, which slightly overwhelmed the other flavors. While I know cumin is common in Indian cuisine, I found it a bit too dominant here. However, the three accompanying chutneys—peach, tamarind, and green chutney—were delightful. The peach chutney was my favorite, offering a perfect balance to the spices in the samosas. The chicken tikka masala was exactly what I hoped for. It was prepared traditionally and the flavors were spot-on. There’s not much else to say—it was a solid dish, well-executed and flavorful. Unfortunately, the meal ended on a slightly disappointing note with the kheer (rice pudding). Kheer is supposed to be creamy and sweet, but this one was watery and lacked the usual richness. It tasted mostly of milk, with none of the complexity or sweetness that typically makes kheer so enjoyable. A few additional notes about the restaurant itself: their QR codes on the tables didn’t work, which was a bit frustrating. Also, their website could use an update, as it didn’t reflect the full menu that was available in the restaurant. As for the atmosphere, it was fairly simple and didn’t scream "Indian culture" in an overwhelming way. The decor was plain but featured subtle touches, like Indian photography on the walls, which I personally enjoyed. While the space didn’t feel overly themed or immersive, the minimalist approach worked well enough to create a relaxed dining environment. Despite these minor setbacks, I would still recommend Tiffin Indian Cuisine to anyone looking for a traditional Indian food experience. I’m looking forward to seeing their improvements in the future.

Over the many years I’ve been eating at the Bryn Mawr Tiffin, the manager, Rudra and his staff have been overly hospitable to me. They’ve allowed me to cook and watch in the back of the kitchen and see how their operation works. They work smoothly and efficiently . I have seen them serve so many orders in the span of 30 minutes and each dish was cooked with intense attention to detail. The food they’ve served is better than any Indian food I’ve ever had. (This is no joke) I have been to almost every Tiffin location in the area and it doesn’t taste this good. If you are new to Indian cuisine, you should get the Chicken Tikki Masala. It will immediately jump into your list of favorite foods. What a treat!!

Worse chicken biryani I have ever had. First time here. No one there on a dinner hour. Was absolute mush food with raisins and peanuts? Who are you kidding ? When the Tiffin first opened in Newtown square, it was delicious colorful rice with lots of meat and flavor, but when it changed and got terrible,I decided to try this place in Bryn Mawr. Now I need to avoid anything and everything with the word Tiffin in it. Please avoid. I took two bites and I threw it away. It was a waste and absolutely terrible. Gosh, close your place down. Your food is gross. Never again. Avoid this place. Trust me. Listen to the other reviews. I should have! 🤢 👎🏻

This restaurant has horrible customer service and an insufficient online ordering system. I placed an order on December 04, 2015 through their online ordering system. I waited about an hour, and called into the location to check the status of my order, being that the online order tracking showed no activity. Even though I ordered at 2PM I was told that they would not have a driver until 5PM. Additionally, I was told that I was outside of the delivery area, so even at 5PM they would not be able to delivery. I paid online through PayPal, and was told that if I wanted a refund I should contact PayPal myself, which considering the circumstance I feel should not have been left up to me. I am within 10 minutes of the restaurant and if I was outside of the delivery area - my payment should not have been accepted online.

Anyone who is familiar with PayPal knows that while a seller can process a refund to a buyer in order a minute; for a buyer to try to recuperate funds from a seller there is a lengthy process that requires opening up a case, giving the seller time to respond, etc. I spoke to both a server and manager at the Bryn Mawr location, who offered no resolution or care. I wrote into the general customer service email address with no response. I called back into the Bryn Mawr location requesting to speak with the individual who maintains the online orders for Tiffin and was given the number to the location on Girard Avenue. There I spoke with someone who took down my number and said he would refund the purchase, and also stated that if any issues arose with processing the refund he would give me a call back. The refund was never processed and I was not given a call back. As I stated earlier, this all began on December 4, 2015. It is now, December 21, 2015 and PayPal finally processed the refund yesterday due to sellers lack of response. This is one of the poorest displays of customer service I have seen in a restaurant and needless to say I will not be patronizing Tiffin any...

We also had a problem with chicken biryani. Small details all added up: chicken pieces too huge, unwieldy, not bite size. Super dry. No matter whether you request spicy, or mild, rest assured it will always be the same- on the fiery side. And fiery spice aside, the Indian spices were (this time even more than usual) dumped in by the bottle. Never fresh spices. We've also had problem with saag gosht dishes. Sometimes very little lamb in dish, but when present, very dry and huge individual pieces (but sometimes only 2 or 3). Not right. Naan was plump and damp inside- undercooked! I am judging service and atmosphere relative to low expectation- but there is no excuse for carelessness of food prep- you're...
