This is the first time I’ve ever reviewed a restaurant via social media, but my recent experiences with HP compel me to do so. We have gone to this location probably 150 times since we moved here six years ago when it was Zach’s and now HP. It is close to us and very convenient. So this review is not from a one or two time customer, but from somebody who can truly speak to the merits, or lack thereof of this establishment. While we have had good food at HP, the service is cause for concern. Pickup orders have often been incorrect and the food from pickup orders has often been of subpar quality. Dining in usually results in much better quality of food, but then you have to deal with HP’s consistently TERRIBLE service. Let me explain. On a number of occasions, especially two glaring examples in just the last 3 months, we had to say something. In January we were there on a Friday night. It was not crowded with only three tables being occupied. There were three young ladies standing near the phone and cash register just gabbing away the entire time, while a fourth person, the one waitress, was running around working very hard. We waited ten minutes just be acknowledged, then an additional ten minutes to receive our drinks. The food was slow in coming out and my order never arrived until I had to say something 15 minutes later. All the while the three girls just talked behind the counter. I don’t blame the waitress, but blame the three girls and management for allowing such an inefficient system to exist. My wife, who is the sweetest person in the world and who never complains, spoke directly to the manager and expressed how bad she felt for the one waitress while the other three did absolutely nothing to assist her. He apologized and comped my food that was forgotten about. We did not care about the free meal, but more about letting him know about the broken system. On another recent Friday evening we simply never received service as we sat for ten minutes. There were again only three customers dining in, three girls chatting at the register, and one very overwhelmed waitress. There was just me and my son and we were on a bit of a time crunch. We sat for ten minutes and one of the girls at the register even made eye contact with me on two occasions. Not even a visit to our table. The phone did not ring even once during this minutes so it wasn’t even like these girls were doing anything at all. We finally had to get up and go, but I did approach the counter and let them know we had been sitting there for ten minutes without even being acknowledged. One of the young ladies responded to me with a quick “sorry, but I am not a waitress”. Then, the actual waitress came out from an area I could not see and said to the girls, “excuse me, you can get drinks!” The manager/owner apologized and the waitress I believe attempted to get us to stay, but we were short on time. For me to write this much on a review it means that I think the Harleysville consumer should know what they are getting into when they are going to spend hard-earned money at a local establishment. To HP: I’ve read other reviews that you have acknowledged that have told you about the inefficiency that exists at your store. But the problem continues and seems to be getting worse. I highly recommend that you have additional wait staff and not allow others to simply stand around and talk while some work very hard. There are many restaurants in the area competing for the same dollars and if you want to remain relevant and profitable, I would address my concerns and the many other similar concerns. If you don’t take care care of the customer somebody else will. I wish you luck but don’t intend to return for awhile. When I do, I am hoping that some of the feedback from myself and others has been taken constructively. Otherwise, there will not a...
Read moreThe overall experience of this place is reprehensible and we will NEVER come here again. The tortellini alfredo pizza was spectacular, but $22 for a large pizza is way overpriced! The Mrs. T's pierogies were dried out and cold- for over $8 for 5 pieces you can go to the Pierogie Kitchen in Roxborough and buy a dozen frozen and get 3 meals out of it. The plain pizza tasted of nothing but dried oregano. The gluten free pizza was gross- the crust was literally cold and raw! We got the buffalo chicken pizza on top of the pizza- the buffalo sauce was tasty, but the cjicken was dried out. I called immediately and was empathetic, as gf crusts are hard to bake. The manager was very sweet on a Friday night, saying we could get a refund of the cost of the gf pizza. Please note, this is a standard gf crust many pizza places are using. It was $21, which is overpriced for a 10" gf pizza that was raw with dried out chicken on top. I heard great things about this pizza place, so I had to try it out! I ordered using GrubHub (thank goodness) and noticed on Sunday that the purchase was completed without the discount. I called the restaurant with no answer. I called GrubHub customer support, who called Harleysville Pizza. The GrubHub customer service rep spoke to the man who I conversed with on Friday night and he remembered the situation, including the refund. When the GrubHub customer service rep came back on the line, he said the person I spoke to on Friday night was upset at me (2 days later) and angry for wanting a refund (which he offered to me and told this to the rep). The rep goes on to say that this person said if I ever order from there again, they (Harleysville Pizza) will charge me double. The rep even agreed the person was hostile. No thank you, Harleysville Pizza, I won't be paying for more overpriced, aggressively oregano seasoned, raw, and cold food with poor customer service. I'll stick to Giovanni's in Royersford or Penny's in Limerick. I'll even go to Pizzeria Uno in Oaks before supporting your establishment again. Btw, at least Uno's gf crust is favorable, delicious, AND I can get 2 gf pizzas for the price of...
Read moreFor 2 years, no issues then for the last 4 orders we were given a price that sounded way off. The first one I considered my fault. The second one caught my attention. The third one.... a price of $48 for a Half Pepperoni pizza ( 2 kids, one likes pepperoni, one doesn't ) and a chicken part sub. Almost $50. So I called and asked if it was right. I was told the pricing was a mistake and he apologized. I understood and appreciated his willingness to own up to the "mistake".We ordered again a 2 weeks later giving the benefit of the doubt. So I called and placed an order for a HALF Pepperoni and was told $25 plus my $6 tip. $31. I hung up waited two mins and called back and spoke to the same man I spoke to last time the " Mistake " happened. It was, shes a new employee, then it was well sir you live just outside our delivery coverage. I have lived here for two years and have used them ever single month. SO I asked is that why I'm getting this outrageous pricing, cause of where I live. Bottom Line is this is not a mistake. They are taking each time, " KNOWING" and will reimburse you if you call them out on it. Once is a mistake, twice is a mistake, three times and not and a forth is robbery. How many people have you guys been over charging like this. I was a loyal customer and you took advantage. Its the only reason I knew something...
