Sorry it's a one star review. New owner in the Harleysville Hotel. I'm a semi-regular there and have always loved the service, food and cold beer. Speaking to another patron there it appears that the Sues Chef from his other establishment which is well known as a dive with questionable reviews and hit and miss food quality, has been brought in as the lead chef? Why would you bring in someone from a place with lower standards and lower reviews and make them the lead in the kitchen of a place well known for their food? I was hoping he would be smart enough to come in and see how it was done and learn from them. My wife and I ordered an appetizer which arrived barely warm, a minute later our dinners arrived (no time between them really). I had the pasta and meatballs a few weeks ago and was very impressed with the marinara and the meatballs. So I tried the pasta with sausage tonight. The sausage was very badly burnt, some pieces almost half way through the meat! And the pasta was barely above room temperature. My wifes open face turkey was so cold that the gravy was like jello. I almost never send food back but couldn't eat it. So I asked for another pasta but with meatballs this time. The meatballs, as well as the sausage came out cut up? Why, It's not a nursing home its a restaurant? But the meatballs did not compare to what I had before, smaller and did not compare in taste. The beer was cold as it always has been there and our server, Marissa, was fantastic! Great attitude and very apologetic for what happened, obviously not her fault. I know that if they don't learn quickly the reputation will go down the drain and that great old place will be another dive that will be failing. I hope they get it together. I won't be going back, I think I see the writing...
Read moreToday, my husband and I decided to have an early dinner at The Harleysville Hotel. We have been coming to this restaurant frequently, since the 1970s, and loved the friendly atmosphere and the quality of food and drinks that the owner, Leon Florentino, took great pride in serving here! The management of this historic hotel changed in March 2024, when the Harleysville Hotel was sold. It is now under new management. We were seated by a friendy waitress, and the first thing we noticed was that the menu had changed significantly. There was a major decrease in food selections! Many of our favorites were no longer on the menu! Plus, no specials were offered! We found that 2 of our favorites, the Grilled corn beef Ruben and Harley burger, were still on the menu, so we ordered! Our food arrived and my sandwich looked good, but it had coleslaw on it! It's supposed to be sauerkraut! Ok... sent it back. Reuben finally arrived, but the whole bottom slice of bread was soaking wet with sauerkraut juice!! Really?? Where are the napkins?? Was going to soak up the liquid with one! The dispensers had been removed from "all the tables!" Used the one napkin provided to soak up some juice and then I ate part of the top of the sandwich! It was soooo disappointing!! $12.00 for that! My husband's Harley burger came with a smaller soft bun, not the large Kaiser roll served in the past. Plus, the burger was smaller, and the beef taste and beef quality was not the same..mushy! $13.00 for that! We paid our bill and we left feeling very disappointed and felt Leon would have felt the same! We...
Read moreReally 2.5, but 3 was being nicer. We have came here a lot over the past few years. All in all, service is always bad (slow, not rude) but that’s because they always have way to many tables per server, this has not changed with new ownership. The drinks have changed since new ownership and they carry weird liquor choices (except bourbons). Also expensive, $16 for a tequila and sprite double is okay if the atmosphere matches the price. I could go to a piano bar with ambiance and pay 18 for a known tequila. Also the last time we went the wings came out record fast, but they seemed reheated? Like they were not crispy like usual and they have char marks like they were just cooked earlier and thrown in something and broiled to come out quicker. This was the first time. Also little things seem “cheaper” like having slot machines in dining areas and taking away the napkins you used to be able to just grab yourself. Swapping the goods chips for lays, just brand quality changes. Some menu items have also risen in price and the quality doesn’t match the upcharge. We’ve given it multiple chances since new ownership but you can get better drinks, food, and atmosphere almost anywhere else now for the same price. Also. 2/4 times since new ownership we did not receive the number of ordered wings. We did not bring it up to see it corrected just kept it to ourselves to track. This has never happened to us before. Servers and staff are great but they’re not in a position to shine given the...
