I expect Chinese food to be hot(warm), have awesome sauce with lots of fresh chopped veggies, and sticky (firm, but not crunchy) rice. If it's fried rice, I expect something extra in the rice, like scrambled eggs & cubed carrots & peas. The egg roll should be crunchy with lots of veggies and good flavor. All noodles should be firm yet tender, with a good flavor.
POSITIVES-1. Delivered food on time and it stayed HOT for a long time. I did have to walk around to a different place to pick up the food, as delivery was not familiar with the hospital. Plenty of chicken in the Moo Goo Gai Pan
NEGATIVES-Moo Goo (2 plates) 1. LITERALLY only 2 slices/, pieces of carrots (not even fresh sliced), 2 slices of celery, 3 snap peas, 3 pieces of cabbage, 6 slices/pieces of water chestnuts & 1 bamboo shoot. TOO MANY MUSHROOMS!! 80% of each bowl was mushroom. Need a balance of the VARIOUS TYPES OF veggies in the dish, not mostly one veggie & then the chicken. Sauce had no flavor & no salt CHICKEN LO MEIN Lo Mein had large pieces of green onion-2 inches in size-should be smaller & less of. Needs more of various veggies. Sauce had no flavor Noodles were over cooked. FRIED RICE Charged EXTRA PER PERSON?? Only difference between it & white rice was the color. No eggs or veggies in the fried rice so why the upcharge? RICE was crunchy. ONE EGG ROLL was included w/lo Mein only? & it was the size of a pinky finger & tasted awful. $4.99 delivery fee+ tip+ food came out to $11.67 PER person & that did not include drinks AND we could not eat the food. We are in hospital, which makes it really hard cuz we wanted some GOOD Chinese food & we splurged here, after reading the reviews.
Sad to give this review but hope it helps the business improve AND others not make the same mistake...
Read moreWent here with a couple friends; got the mapo tofu and tried some of my friend's orange chicken, which he ended up giving to me because he didn't want to finish it. Both dishes are fairly standard for Chinese restaurants and yet both were absolute let-downs.
The mapo tofu used char siu (barbecue pork) which I thought would be interesting, but the dish was too sweet and had only the barest hint of the szechuan pepper spice I was craving. On top of that, the tofu was very firm instead of being silky/soft (as is typically used in mapo tofu), simply functioning as chewy blocks in a boring, near-flavorless sauce.
As for the orange chicken, I was impressed by how unabashedly bad it was. I should have taken a picture, but the color of the sauce was a pinkish red and the taste was a couple seconds of sweetness followed by nothing. Absolutely no citrus flavor (I wonder if they used any actual orange at all), no spice, and no savory element to balance it all out. Probably the worst "orange" chicken I've ever tried-- I'd much sooner pick some up at Panda Express at a better price.
Overall a disappointing experience. I'm not sure if we happened to order weaker dishes and this place cooks other ones better, but I'm not willing to come back and try anything else after how depressing that eating experience was. The service, wait time, and atmosphere were acceptable, but that's the...
Read moreI wanted to get some Chinese food, and saw that this place had good ratings. We ordered inside and ordered it to-go. I ordered a daily special meal, which comes with fried rice and a pork egg roll. I ordered the chicken with broccoli meal. I also ordered the fried wontons. After placing my order, I waited about 10 minutes before it was ready. I'll be honest, I was pretty disappointed with this meal. The chicken with broccoli was good, but the chicken itself was a little slimy and soft. Chicken in a chicken with broccoli meal usually is soft due to the velveting, but this felt too soft. The broccoli was fine. The sauce itself was light and felt like it needed more flavor. The fried rice was very bland, which is not typical for fried rice. There were no vegetables or eggs in it, it looks like it was tossed with some soy sauce. The egg roll was smaller than the ones I am used to, and was also pretty flavorless. I could not taste the pork in it. Finally, the fried wontons were over fried and were very hard and crunchy, with the consistency of a fortune cookie. Overall, this meal did disappoint, but I appreciated that they were here. I might have gotten the wrong...
