This is a really neat new spot... BUT with a big catch. The disadvantages first: It's server-less restaurant dining which if you're not already aware of that going in, is a HUGE pain in the you- know- what. If you're aware and you know the process, I guess it's fine. Just know that you're going to pay regular restaurant prices at a place that's not going to serve you. We went in and were told to sit anywhere. We did and no one ever came to our table. We didn't know how it worked so we just waited. Finally, I got up and went to the bar and asked for menus and how to get a server to come over. She was friendly and gave me menus and explained that I would be placing food orders at "the window." My friend and I looked over the menus, and when we decided, we realized to get up to go place the order, we'd be losing our table. The place was filling up with people who were looking for where to sit. So, my friend stayed at the table to hold it while I placed our orders. Not ideal, but fine. So, at the order window they give you a number. Then you go back to your table and watch for your number to pop up on a screen then go back to get your food. Nothing is on the table, and it's not a small place so if you don't think of silverware or napkins you're going to be getting up and going back to the window a lot. I went for us a total of 5 times. It really took away from enjoying the place. Order at window-sit- pick up part of order-sit- go get silverware-sit- go get napkins- sit- go get rest of order-sit. I was exhausted and my buzz wore off! Also...I ordered the street tacos. They were AMAZING. BUT... each of them were literally the size of the palm of my hand. Super tiny... not even regular street taco size. The tortilla was literally the size of a large round chip you'd find at the top of a bag of tostitos. My friend's dinner looked like a typical enchilada plate in portion size. And she was happy. The advantages: just about everything else. The music is nearly too loud for real conversation but we managed OK. This is a spot definitely going to be loved by young people/ college crowds. The feeling is though you're walking into a club, but it's a restaurant. Music is good, environment is great and service is friendly. Notes: the hostesses or bouncer really should tell people how it works going in the restaurant. The business doesn't seem to have done much prep when they bought the space. The ground is dangerously uneven in several spots. I tripped 4 or 5 times in a way that could've been a bad fall. You can see on the concrete (yes, inside is street pavement) where there are little ramps that used to be marked in florescent tape but the markings have totally worn away. So be careful! There's a wonderful patio area for seating that is very large and indoor is spacious too. Food is great but know that the kitchen...
Read moreIf you've never been here, go with someone who's been or is familiar bc I was LOST!! You can eat inside or outside. There's a great patio area with swings!! That's where we chose to sit. It's hard to say who works there and who doesn't bc the patio had one person running around but people sitting at the picnic tables nearest the bar outside would also randomly get up and ask if we were doing OK, too? Very strange and unorganized.
In addition, we kept getting forgotten. The waitress would go loads of time without coming back to us so we did a lot of self service. In addition, super confusing as to whether or not you're supposed to get up and retrieve your food inside (which is what we did) or if it was brought to the table because, again, inconsistent service & zero explanation. We just had our order taken, were given and a # and left to fend for ourselves lol. The atmosphere was very fun, beautifully decorated. The interior has paintings from the beautiful Kelly J Reyna (a local artist...look her up - Grey Edges Studio).
Now for the food - nothing to really get excited about in my humble opinion. Especially for the price. 😬 I had the flautas. They were perfectly crispy and came with a delicious spicy ranch. The chicken had ZERO flavor. Costed about $7 for 5. We also ordered the chips & cilantro lime dip. Tasted lioe straight earth. I kid you not, there was zero flavor. No, I'm not one of those people who thinks cilantro tastes like soap but soap had more flavor than this dip and had a hefty price tag for dip. 😖 ...the drinks left me wanting. Not packed with flavor but good balance of flavor to alcohol ratio. They did offer tajin rims so there's that for you tajin lovers. We tried the mangorita, the blueberry Chilton (tasted like flat sprite..oops), and the strawberry daiquiri which was my fav! All in all, if you want somewhere chill to hang and grab, l definitely try it. If you're looking for amazing food and flavor, go elsewhere 🤐
Sorry not sorry. I am all about food, flavor, SERVICE and a great experience. Many laughs were had & we made great...
Read moreTotally disappointed. We were excited to try this new place. We walked in and went to the order counter and stood there for about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, the two girls working the food delivery counter looked our way several times, but never came over or asked if we needed anything. Just ignored us. We heard a couple of customers walk up to that counter and complain about how long their orders were taking. My wife walked over and asked if someone was available to work the order counter and the girl told her they were not taking any new order because they were so backed up and she turned around and walked away. Really?
They should at least have someone at the order counter to tell you that or at least put up a sign. Nope, just ignore new customers and hope they go away. They didn't seem too displeased when we walked out. I know help is hard to come by right now, but this is not how you operate a business. Will never go back. After reading the other reviews, how is this place still open? Same response from the manager/owner for every issue.
Drove 1 block west to Fuzzy's Tacos and had a great experience and were eating in less than 5 minutes. The fish tacos there...
