I've had brunch here, and it was just okay. Recently, we came to get a couple drinks with friends, I ordered a regular Chilton, and husband ordered a Jack and Coke. I don't know how to explain but the drinks didn't taste right, kind of musty or off - like maybe their soda lines are moldy or something. My husband didn't finish his Jack and Coke and I couldn't drink mine. The morning after that experience he said he'd rather have gone to The Robin's Nest. That's pretty bad.
I'm not exactly sure where would be appropriate to leave a review for catered events, but I would warn potential brides to be wary of the catered food. We got married at Cotton Court a little over a year ago and I'm still mortified over how bad the food was. (I get catering is difficult and multifaceted but it was bad enough I essentially didnt eat. Components of the meal that were promised were missing.) We had a tasting in the restaurant and it was very good, so it felt like a bait and switch.
In my experience, the wait staff and event coordinators are excellent, and I doubt they are responsible for food ordering or scheduling vendors to come clean equipment. All this said, the venue, atmosphere and hotel itself are so cool - so if you visit I suggest eating before, and sticking to canned or bottled drinks. I want to like this place, but I don't...
Read moreThis is a casual, hotel restaurant. When we arrived, we were seated by a fireplace, so the atmosphere was nice enough. However, the menu was very small, and we were never given a wine list or drink menu. This is odd, since this is a bar. The waiter was happy to bring us a merlot, but he never really offered to take a drink order?? We ordered chips and queso, and the bowl of queso was tiny! This was fine, since it was also very thin and flavorless. The pork chop I ordered was tough and chewy and I didn't finish it. My wife's salmon was cooked very well, but the spinach dish that came with it was pretty tasteless ... raw spinach and arugula, served with marinated tomatoes, which were not chopped up small enough, so the effect was just large, soggy, tomatoes when you bit into it. There were capers in the dish, but they were at the very bottom of the spinach. They would've been better, had they been piled on the salmon. Our meal was not worth the $100 + that it cost. The website states that they don't take reservations, and it is "first come first serve", which is laughable, since there would be no reason to make a reservation. It is apparent from the menu, that they strive to serve health conscious options for people who eat a certain way. This is great, but the food needs to then taste good. Parking...
Read moreWent 10/31/20 - Great potential. Hope this doesn't come off as excessive, but want to provide helpful feedback for the beautiful new place:
It was not clear who the host was. The guy at the podium did not respond to us, nor make eye contact with us, when we greeted him. It was odd that staff hung around & sat on the floor around the entrance podium throughout the dinner service.
We ordered several bar drinks throughout dinner. Every cocktail mix was off and served in incorrect glasses. We had to send a couple back; traded for draft beers, which were good local options.
Ordered the crispy brussels sprouts for an app - it came to the table cold and missing a couple ingredients as described on the menu. No appetizer plates were provided to make sharing easy.
Ordered the chicken-fried short rib - this was Excellent. The side, peas and carrots, could have been spooned out of a freezer bag.
Our other entrée was the flat iron steak. Waitress did not ask what temp we wanted it cooked. It was served medium (good), but was cold when it got to the table. It was also missing its side order of fries when served.
We're excited to try the restaurant again after some of the issues are worked out, but they need to put in a lot of work to get the service, drinks, and food presentation to match the...
