I am so happy I visited!
My iced oatmilk latte was creamy and earthy. Truly satisfying.
I had a lot of fun with the pork sausage roll! It is a comforting and familiar combination of a subtle savory sausage filling wrapped in a puff pastry. What makes it different and exceptional is the toasted fenel seeds on top! It becomes a delightfully fennel forward dish with a playful crunchy texture that I enjoyed in every bite. It was recommended, and rightly so, that I eat my sausage roll with catsup. It was good with and without, but the bites I enjoyed with catsup had the extra benefit of being slightly sweet and acidic adding a playful complexity.
There is a nice shared theme with the side salad! A spinach and mixed greens with nicely acidic vinegarette quite elevated by the toasted, crunchy sunflower and pumpkin seeds!
I am a fan of tarts and a fan of this tart. The lemon tart filling was more sweet than lemony with a nice flaky crust that balanced the sweetness wonderfully . The combination of the cool soft filling and bite of the crust made for a satisfying texture and well rounded desert.
There was attractive art on the lovely red brick walls, and nice music playing just loud enough it can be enjoyed without drowning out conversation.
There is a lot of family style seating with bar seating along the walls. Convenient outlets for recharging are found throughout.
The staff was welcoming, warm and prepared my order in good time.
I had a pleasant experience and would absolutely visit again. Next time I want to try...
Read moreThe atmosphere at this place was amazing from the moment I walked in. Really nice lighting and super good music. I got the chicken pesto sandwich and I really liked it. I also got a vanilla iced latte and the quality of the espresso was amazing! I wish it was sweeter but that’s just a preference thing and doesn’t have anything to do with the drink itself. All in all it was good but the girl who took our order and made our drinks was not very friendly. She didn’t do anything “mean” specifically, however when you come to a place with such high reviews you would expect her to be a little nicer. When she gave us our food and drinks we said thank you and she would just walk away. My boyfriend also asked for the wifi and instead of just telling him what it was she had to say “it’s right in front of you but it’s this..” and then proceeded to tell him. Just an unnecessary snarky remark. She was just overall unwelcoming and her demeanor was very standoffish and avoidant and looked and acted like she wanted us to leave. She barely said anything to us at the register and never really made eye contact. Maybe she was just having a long day which I understand but it is important that the customer service is just as good as the food, drinks, and atmosphere. I’ve experienced way better customer service at...
Read moreI recently went here for the first time, mentioned that fact when I asked about things at the counter, and was disappointed with the cold and unwelcoming service. Maybe I just caught someone at a bad time. Still, I don't want to be left feeling that my presence as a customer, and the questions I ask, are an imposition. More attention to details, please: if you don't want us to hand our card to the cashier, position the card swipe facing the customer. Imagine things from the perspective of your customers. The seating is uncomfortable and a bit awkwardly distributed. The food was excellent (although I would have preferred that my roll actually be big enough to handle the contents of my chicken pesto salad sandwich), but expensive. The small tahini brownie I bought was also good, but really pricey for the size. Music was mostly shoegazey sounding. I probably just need to write this place off as outside of my current budget. It might best be thought of as a place for young people with money (or active credit...
