As others have noted, we too had been going to Chef John's many times the years we've lived up here and loved it.
Granted, now it's different, but the only thing for certain... is that things will change.
Haven't been in here but the one time , I can't say that it feels any better in here, and I'm not quite sure the food is as good as it was.
But Chef John was 70 something years old and had an awful lot of experience in how to make good food and make good people happy. I'm pretty sure Chef John took a few wrong turns in his career, we just didn't see them.
Now it's this young man's turn to try his hand at it. It looks like maybe he got off to a bit of a rocky start. But that's nothing that can't be overcome. There's no reason not to support this new chef in any way we can moving forward.
He seems receptive to suggestions and realizes the big shoes he's got to fill, simply because he opened his store in a place where there used to be a fantastic famous restaurant.
Well, that place is gone, and now we have this young guy who's doing his best, and we wish him well.
Chef, we will keep coming in to support you. We will make relevant suggestions if appropriate to help you.
We appreciate you opening a new, nice breakfast and lunch restaurant for all of us here in ludington.
Peace...
Read moreSince Chef Cody opened this new venture (and it is new, not a remake of something that was there before) I have been in several times. Breakfast or lunch, a cup of coffee and a piece of pie, picking up some sweet treats or a loaf of bread, the food has always been top-notch and the coffee unique among restaurants in our area. Cody has also been very receptive to suggestions on how to improve his already excellent offerings, and has asked his staff to be part of the creative process of making this a truly great bakery/restaurant. Of course with any new endeavor there are bugs to iron out, and in this case there has been the desire of many for it to be just like it was before. But Chef Cody brings his own skills and ideas, flavors and creations to an often-critical market, and he does it with boldness, courage, and panache. Because of this, his dream of bringing outstanding baked goods and a friendly atmosphere in which to enjoy them is rapidly becoming a reality that we hope will become a mainstay of our community for a long time to come. At 25 years old, Chef Cody has exhibited he has the guts to tackle a tough market, and we're all benefiting from what he and his staff...
Read moreUnimpressed is what I have to say. My wife and I have been Ludington residents most of our life but moved out in the last few years to Oregon so we were unaware of the new ownership at this establishment. My wife and I are quite open minded and were excited to see what it had been turned into. New ownership brings unique obstacles and Trails End is still in the process of trying to overcome them. We were given a buzzer to let us know when to grab our food and instead of it going off, we were brought our food instead. No issue with the buzzer system but quite confused why we were given a buzzer and if this place is trying to be a bakery or if it’s trying to be a restaurant. We were not given silverware either and I was told the silverware was right where I was supposed to pick up my plate.. confused again because I was just given my plate at my table. Silverware should have been a covered basis, but the employees seemed to not care that much about it. Food was subpar and we will not be coming back unless this place can figure out what it is doing. Pry won’t be for another five years or if someone else buys it and turns it into a functionally running business...
