Me and my date decided to revisit this restaurant last night. We arrived and what seemed like would be a long wait, but we were seated pretty quickly. Upon being seated, we noticed a pile of dishes sitting on an open table next to us. Surely they would be removed soon, so we carried on.
We ordered a couple drinks from the bar, which ultimately took I would say 20 minutes to arrive. Mind you we had asked for water also, which never arrived until 45 minutes later with our meal and without asking 3 times. Even though I had asked for the pint, I was charged for a tall and received the massive glass I didn't order, and my glass had old lipstick on it(very gross).. It was eventually changed out which is standard. Our appetizer had arrived and was attempted to be given away twice to two different tables, one where the food sat on the table while the guests breathed on and looked and the food they didn't order. Then the hostess realized the mistake and plopped the food down unto our table with no apologies. Mind you we are in the middle of the pandemic and this is somewhat of a health concern. We ate them anyway and didn't fuss, as it is a common mistake when you have hostesses running food.
We continued on hoping the service would improve, but it wasn't until after our food arrived we got some water, with no straws of course, and had to ask for actual silverware because who wants to eat a steak with plastic silverware? Anyways, it seemed like we had to ask for everything, which from a service standpoint has to be exhausting because it's more efficient to be on top of things, rather then running back and forth when someone asks for water for the 3rd time.
Needless to say, the food was decent and my steak was tasty along with the chicken tenders. It just seems like the service was lazy and un-managed. As we left the table over 1 hour of being there, the dirty dishes from before were still next to us. And that best describes our service last...
Read moreThe Wisconsin cheese curds were excellent! Their take on the Monte Cristo was interesting but a bit too sweet for my taste.
I did ask for the powdered sugar on the side but it was sprinkled across the top so I just went with it and tried dipping it in the raspberry preserves. The ingredients were all tasty, just not necessarily prepared and served the way I would prefer since I'm not big on sweets for dinner.
Perhaps if it was served with the sweetness to the side (as an option) and if the sandwich had been cooked just a minute or two longer, that could've made all the difference. The doughy texture was a bit off putting.
Neither of us cared for it but I took it home to my mother and she said she really enjoyed it. We could very well just be looking at a difference in preference and taste..
The prices were on the higher end but not by a lot. The service was standard. Less than average if you add in the fact that business was slow and we were sitting at the bar but everything moved at a snails pace.
It was ok because we were there to kill time. But had we been trying to fit in a few drinks before a show or had a time frame to fit our dinner in to, it could've become aggravating and inconvenient.
We will be back for more cheese curds though. Will make it a point to go when we have plenty of time on our hands. :) P.s. the cheese curds were a pretty good portion. I didn't think to take pics until they were half eaten. The ONLY thing I would change about them is to offer more dipping sauce. There was only enough sauce for about half the order. But we ate them...
Read moreI was in Lufkin the week before last visiting my dad. We decided to go to Cheddar’s for lunch because I’ve always enjoyed eating there, my dad has always liked it as well. I ordered the Dijon Chicken with a baked potato and green beans. The chicken came out and looked great I took a bite and something was very wrong. The chicken had the weirdest texture, it was almost like gum. I thought maybe it was just me so I had my dad taste as well and he agreed. I flagged down the server and asked him if he could just replace it with some grilled chicken. He brought back the grilled chicken and it was the very same. I ended up just sending back all of the meat and just ate my vegetables. I’m not sure if it’s the quality of their chicken or how they thawed it out but something was very wrong and I’m glad I did not eat it. I did not ask for them to take the chicken off of the bill although the server did just that. I thought it was very strange that the manager never came over once to see what the problem was. Cheddar’s has gone way downhill the past few years in quality of food and service. Management did not come to the table or get involved regarding if their chicken was bad so that was...
