Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Lyndhurst

In my 17 years of being on this planet, I don’t think I have ever had such a horrid experience in a restaurant. Me and my friends came in innocently, completely oblivious to the horrors we will witness in the next hour, even though it should’ve 30 minutes. We came in to see that the restaurant was half empty, so we assumed we’d quickly be sat and ready to eat, but we were wrong. We were ignored for a good 10 minutes and we gave up and decided to seat ourselves, but we went back because we didn’t think we’d get served. So we went back to the line only to see that there were more people now waiting! Like what the hell?? My friend literally called them to somehow get their attention while we were waiting in line, and he got out on hold for three minutes! We saw the manager chatting in the corner while the phone was literally ringing with its annoying ahh ringtone throughout the whole restaurant! After who knows how long, we finally got seated at some really sticky and dirty table. We asked for a table for 3 people, but seems like we got one for 4 due to a cockroach joining us mid meal. So we sat, and it didn’t take too long for the guy to take our orders, but god, getting our orders? Holy shit. We got some basic appetizers as our food because we thought full entrees would take decades to cook with that service. We also ordered water. Just three simple cups of water, it couldn’t be that hard, right? Well, somehow, it was pretty difficult for the server to bring us water because we got our FOOD before our DRINKS, WHICH WAS LITERALLY THREE CUPS OF WATER. How?? How the hell is it that hard??? There’s literally no people that are keeping you busy, and you can’t even do the bare minimum of your job! We ate the food, and I’m not even gonna talk about because I’m sure you can assume how it’ll taste with such shitty service, and we waited for our check. The server didn’t even bother coming up to us, and every time he walked by us or in our direction, he didn’t even bother asking how the food was, or is everything just okay in general. We waited the server to ask if we wanted the check probably longer than we did for our food, and we just got so pissed, we had to calculate the price ourselves, because we’re decent people who don’t steal, and just straight up left a gift card that my friend got and left that damn place. I just wasted the first hour of my precious summer on ts, and I am genuinely pissed because I could’ve gotten actual food with decent service, and left in a good mood, instead, I’m in a shitty mood and might have a tapeworm from the boneless...

If I could give zero stars I genuinely would. Before arriving since I had a party of 7, I called ahead a few hours prior. We came in on Sunday around 3 and were immediately seated. The section we were seated in was a bit empty asides from a few other guests. Our server came over, and asked us what we wanted to start with for a drink, didn’t get his name though. The first time he came up he gave us a bit of an attitude asking if we needed more time and that he would come back later. When he came back we put in appetizers & entrees, and afterwards he kept coming back out circling around not doing anything, nor checking in with the table. He had to be flagged down to put in another request. After about thirty minutes the kids entrees came out, in which they both ordered chicken tenders and fries. When the food came out it was warm almost cold. In which we told our server that the fries were not hot and then he went and brought back out hot fries almost immediately. I don’t understand why we weren’t able to receive hot fries to begin with and had to ask for them to be hot but I digress. About ten minutes later our appetizers finally come out, when he brought out the kids food and the tenders he just sat them on the table rather than asking who had what. It seemed as if we agitated him and everything we asked about the menu was a bother, when we asked for pricing for a specific menu item that we didn’t see he told us that he didn’t know and that we need to look at the menu. Our table didn’t want a server that seemed agitated at every question we had in which we asked another server to please assist us. The young lady was very nice and apologized and offered to bring out the rest of our food. About three minutes later she brought out our food and made sure our table was cared for and was very polite, and made sure our food was hot. That’s all we wanted… unfortunately one of us ordered the honey chipotle tenders with the four cheese mac and cheese and the dish was drenched with the honey chipotle sauce under the noodles and the sauce for the mac and cheese was in the middle of the noodles. And the chicken tenders didn’t have any of the sauce on the tenders. We called our original server back over and asked if the dish was supposed to be like this and he said the sauce was supposed to be drizzled, in which he apologized and took the dish back and comped it. Never got seated after 45 minutes. We left. 2 other groups of 2 left. 2 women walked in and left. The waiting area was so crowded people were standing. The hostess in the afternoon of (corrected date I originally said the 7th it was the 6th on Saturday) April 6th wasn’t greeting people at all. People were just walking in and standing around while she didn’t acknowledge anyone. We sat for 30 mins waiting for her to give us some type of acknowledgement that she was ready. She just kept walking off and looking down at something on the hostess stand. She was rude when I asked her when we were getting a table. She said she had no idea I was present or something she said along those lines. I guess she couldn’t see 4 people I guess to her that made sense. I guess she was mad that our kids were loud. These were 2 online friends that were meeting for the first time. They were excited. They weren’t out of pocket loud just excited. She tried to go back and forth cause I told her I was there for 45 minutes she kept correcting me saying it was 15. Which meant I didn’t check in till after sitting there for 30 minutes. She seated literally everyone and just let all 4 of us sit there without saying anything. I was just being polite and not making her do her job. Never seen a hostess in my life that do not acknowledge you with eye contact and a hello or a can I help you or something. She was super irritated and and it made it apparent. We left because after we had an exchange that only ended because I agreed with her even though it wasn’t the truth just so she could stop. After that she walked off, we didn’t feel comfortable even eating there so we left. This is Applebee’s there will be kids there. Literally it’s a place a lot of people take kids. I’m not sure why she was shocked by a couple of 13 year old girls. They weren’t that loud. I was actually making sure they weren’t. They already shut down the one in my neighborhood this whole chain is a mess. I get it people need jobs but why work somewhere that’s a family restaurant if you get annoyed by...
