Update 7-28-2023
After a hiatus of three years, we decided to give Kama Bistro another chance to see if they had improved their services since our last disappointing experience. And let me tell you, the transformation was nothing short of remarkable! Our visit on July 28, 2023, left us in awe, and we are thrilled to upgrade our previous two-star review to a glowing five-star recommendation.
First and foremost, we must praise the seamless reservation process. Despite arriving earlier than expected, the staff graciously accommodated us and seated us immediately. Kudos to the management for their efficiency and respect for patrons' time.
Our delightful journey began with the outstanding hospitality of our waitress, Rachael. From the moment she greeted us with a warm smile, we knew we were in for a pleasant dining experience. Rachael's extensive knowledge of the menu and her thoughtful suggestions for appetizers set the perfect tone for the evening.
For starters, we tried the Harissa Chicken Tikka Appetizer and Paneer Lemon Tadka, both recommended by Rachael. The charcoal-grilled boneless spicy marinated chicken thigh was a revelation - succulent and bursting with flavor. The Paneer Lemon Tadka was equally delightful, complementing the chicken dish perfectly.
When it came to the main course, we might have gone a little overboard, but every dish was worth it! The Lamb Chop Masala stood out with its tender and well-seasoned meat that left us craving for more. The simple dal and cumin rice were comforting and paired exceptionally well together. The Eggplant Bharta and roti were a divine combination, and we savored every bite.
To end our delightful feast on a sweet note, Rachael recommended the Kulfi dessert, and we couldn't have made a better choice. The creamy and rich Kulfi was the perfect conclusion to a fantastic meal.
It is only fair to attribute the success of our dining experience to Rachael, who guided us skillfully through the menu and made exceptional recommendations. Her politeness, warmth, and attentiveness enhanced our evening significantly.
Furthermore, the efficiency of the service staff must not go unnoticed. They were quick in attending to our needs, and the food arrived at our table promptly without any compromise on its quality.
In conclusion, Kama Bistro has surpassed our expectations with their remarkable improvement in service, food quality, and overall experience. We are thrilled to witness such a transformation and wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. Without a doubt, our visit on July 28, 2023, earns Kama Bistro a well-deserved five-star rating. We look forward to returning soon and exploring more of their delectable offerings.
--------++---- Sorry I just left the resturant and just rated and didn't write anything. So here it goes We moved from Florida to Illinois and searched for any good Indian resturant around. This place was on the top with good reviews but some pretty bad reviews on yelp . We decided to spend our valentines a day after decided to try good Indian food
Ordered scallops " the house special" and paneer for appetizers.
Two bland pieces of scallop with no seasoning, paneer was just paneer cubes in some curry sauce. I had to ask the waiter for some salt and pepper. For the main course ordered the nihari and chicken tandoori Nihari had no seasoning but the tandoori chicken was ok.
This is coming from an Indian who has tried many Street and local food 20 years in india and 10 in the US The food needs a big revamp. Not worth the price I would say . I got carried away by the reviews but i should have filtered the reviews by showing the negative...

We agree with the other reviews about the garlic naan and the paratha (we got the mint and the chili ones) -- both are bone-dry and we regret ordering them. The paratha was way overcooked and was burnt on the edges, which would have been fine if the rest of it didn't also have a cardboard-like consistency. The samosa was served very mildly lukewarm, almost cold, so even if it had good flavor it didn't come through, as a samosa should be steaming hot when you cut it open. The kamikaze vindaloo was just ok. I ordered it 10/10 spice level which I expecting to be extremely spicy, given that they mention ghost peppers and Carolina reapers on their descriptions. It just wasn't that spicy, which I would have overlooked if there was good flavor, but the chili spice was the only discernible flavor in the dish. The chicken dish which was ordered medium spicy had literally no spice at all and also had no flavor (and this is from the perspective of non-Indian diners who enjoy Indian food but don't eat super-spicy food). The desserts we tried were awful and we didn't finish either - the ras malai was way too soft and not that flavorful, and the Chai tiramisu sounded great but was bitter and the taste was off-putting. We had been wanting to try this place for a long time and were so excited to try it, but unfortunately will likely only return if we are in the area for another restaurant and want some...
Read moreCame here to celebrate my best friends birthday. We had reservations and were seated almost immediately upon arrival. The decor was modern and the vibe relaxing.
I'm not too familiar with Indian food, to be honest, and this place was chosen at the recommendation by two members of our party of five that happen to be vegan. I was prepped that this place is modern fusion with flavors that wouldn't disappoint.
They were right.
While we were able to view the menu by scanning a QR Code, it was a relief to have our order traditionally taken by our server who was very pleasant.
I ordered the sea bass with garlic roti and finished all of it. I planned on taking half home but that didn't happen 😂 The okra appetizer was crispy and cooked batter free which I found refreshing. I was able to try other appetizers, one with a crispy bread and one that had spicy potatoes that were pretty good.
My entree was ordered spicy and it was perfect for me. I was worried that maybe I would have been over my head but I'm thinking the dishes are geared towards mainstream spice tolerance so while it did have a bit of a kick it was more flavorful than hot.
This place was the perfect setting to connect with my best friend for her birthday and to finally meet her other best friend! The ambiance and wonderful dining experience lended itself to great conversations and in turn the making of great memories. I'm glad to have been introduced to this place and I'm excited to try and explore more...
