The ice cream was great and a cute old school ice cream shop was just what we were looking for as a family with kiddies
They were very busy with a party of little girls having a birthday
The young sweet employees were very attentive and kind and they were still pretty fresh on the job coming into the warm season for the first time so a little extra stress then maybe with a more experienced staff but none the less handles it with kindness and grace . Great job employees . However the owner woman a much older lady was too stressed and when the kids serving us did somthing a little incorrect she was very snappy and even grabbed her young employee by the wrist with force to prevent them from handing over a cone she though was incorrect but actually was correct . It felt like an abusiva wncirnmwnt to the young employees and I apologize but the busy environment is not excuse to act with that type of harshness to new employees. I mentioned to her her actions and she was deflecting e if the criticism of grabbing her employee with force the way she did and blamed it on being busy and that they’re training so they aren’t doing as good of a job as they should be . Over all we lovers the young employees and ice cream and environment but the owner lady was so harsh and I felt really protective of the young employees leaving. May she never lay hands on her employees in any way again Respectfully a...
Read moreI recently attended a birthday party at Tates with my 4 year old. As the party was going on, the lady leading the party stopped to announce (not once, but twice) that the mother hosting would be charged for the parents who stayed at the party. I have 2 issues with this. First, why is this mother being charged for me to stand in the shop because my child is a little timid and was uncomfortable with me leaving? I felt terrible that I cost this mother extra money because my child would not cooperate with me wanting to leave. I did not eat ice cream. My presence in no way affected this woman's business. Secondly, it was so inappropriate how she announced this. It made all those involved feel completely uncomfortable. I have always believed in supporting local businesses. However, this is one that I can no longer support. When someone is spending a considerable amount of money like this, they should not be...
Read moreBest Kept Secret in La Grange IL to anyone who does not live nearby. Every local knows about it because they were all here when I arrived. Quickest moving queue I ever was in. New Yorkers could learn a lesson in service from this place. 1) Awesome home-made ice cream & they let you sample as many as you want. No problem with me 1st taste was Coconut and I left with 1 quart-it was best ice cream I ever had. 2) Candy They have candy that you haven't seen in a candy store since Roosevelt was President. And I mean Teddy. Dot candy, gourmet licorice in multiple flavors, Nice that an ice cream store still carries what I used to call penny candy. 3) Hours are till 10 PM every night except Sunday- 9 PM. Most ice-cream/ candy stores around here close by 6:30 4) Polite and efficient service. They even ask if you need candy in different bags...
