The props and decor are a little on the cheesy side. My kiddos are 10&12, and they had an absolute BLAST! So much fun, they insisted we take another tour the following day. I thought the information they had was really cool and nothing you would know if you weren't already obsessed with the mysteries. It was a bit intimidating at first, but once you pass through the first two rooms, you get caught up in the experience and it's much less scary and more fun than anything. Some of the interactive buttons can be a little subtle, so pay VERY close attention! The owner is SO KIND! Our first visit being 10 minutes before their closing time (our mistake:/) he INSISTED we take the tour. We spent the better part of the next 50 minutes exploring! We came out of the tour to the owner being enthusiastically interested in every word my kids had to say. He couldn't get enough of their excitement, and they ate it up! We got caught up in the excitement and forgot to give our spider count from the pharaoh's tomb the first go, so we went back the next morning. John remembered us and was ecstatic to see the kids again and chat some more about their experience. That only got them going, so of course, we went through again. This time the kids helped read the information with me. We had an equally awesome experience and definitely recommend!! I didn't even think to check, but the weekend prices may be different than the weekday prices. I felt the prices were extremely reasonable for the tours at the time we visited. The gift shop was a little on the pricey side, but it seemed as though each item was curated by the owner himself. Other souvenirs were brought in from local vendors and small companies from around Michigan. Overall-a VERY neat place for the price and experience, maybe a little too much for kids under 5/6, it can be loud, and some rooms had unexpected lights and noises. But in the end, I think some are expecting too much. These are mythical stories and conspiracy theories. It's meant for fun, not to actually...
Read moreThis place was Amazing! I am a true believer myself and have been fascinated with the unexplained and cryptozoology as long as I can remember (I'm 36 so that's awhile)! The immersive scenes, detailed props as well as full sensory experience, here, is right on point with attractions I have experienced at Disney. My kids also loved it (11,10 and 6). Nothing was "too scary" or "boring" for them. They took their time experiencing each element and I didn't have to remind them. We easily spent 45 to an hour inside the actual attraction. My husband fully expected this to be cheesy and boring. He shakes his head at me while I watch ancient aliens and rolls his eyes at my bigfoot beliefs. He had an absolute blast. This man was grinning from ear to ear and running back and forth through the experience to do stuff again. I am trying to keep this vague because the element of surprise is part of the fun. Skeptic or true believer, you will want not to miss this spectacular stop. Well worth the $12ish bucks a person. Then there is the store. Super fun as well and not too terribly priced. Some of the things are $$ but my kids each easily found a souvenir under $15.
Finally, the guy running the place was so friendly and helpful.
Nothing bad to say about this place at all!...
Read moreAs someone who loves the paranormal side to things, I was surprised and excited to find out about mystery town. I knew this was a place I wanted to see during our stay here, since it was not far from down town Mackinaw. As 2 adults we were worried that it would be geared more toward children, but we still found enjoyment out of it. The "Town" itself consists of a paranormal gift shop with the mystery tour being the main attraction. It's around $11 per person for the tour, which was a bit steep. The tour was cute and the props were very well done (all but the tinfoil balls used as alien artifacts, but I'm going to assume that was the joke). My favorite part was the sasquatch portion near the end, I felt like it was the best crafted area. My only problem with the tour was the price. $11 was a bit high, and I can't see big groups of people spending that much. Other than that, it was a cute tourist trap. The employees were very nice and helped us...
