This review has nothing to do with the food, which was good and consistent with Chilis in most places I suppose. Today was my little girl’s 9th birthday party, and we were supposed to have a swim party. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate and it was low 60’s with rain/thunderstorms. We tried to pivot and move the party indoors but the other kids/parents all bailed. Nobody showed up to her party since there wouldn’t be swimming/free childcare for four hours. Most cancelled with less than an hours notice. Devastating to a little girl in a new town. Anyways, we also bailed on the party after and hour and a half of waiting and seeing all the excuses trickle in. When I asked her what would make it better, one of the things she said she had always wanted was a “fancy” chocolate lava cake. I don’t know if that is the best indicator of what fine dining is, but Chilis has those. As we were sitting down, birthday girl mentioned to the busy server that nobody came to her party today. Server’s reaction was suitably mixed sadness and anger that this could happen. I appreciated just that.
What followed was one of the most unsolicited and generous displays of kindness and decency I have seen in recent memory. Not only did they bring her her very own chocolate lava cake without even being asked, made her custom chocolate milk to her heart’s content, but someone in the restaurant actually RAN OUT AND GOT HER A PRESENT. Pretty sure from Joanns in the nearby shopping center. Brought it in a bag and gave it to her and I honestly think it made the whole day to have a stranger care enough to do that. I don’t know if it was the server, manager, or heck someone in the back bussing tables, but they are an unusually amazing person. For one of them to take their precious time and money to do that for her is extraordinary. She will remember it for a long time and it went a little further towards restoring my own faith in humanity. Far more than I expected from a trip to Chilis in North Macon. Go there. Eat some food. Be kind to people....
Read moreLast night my fiancé and I visited this location about 6:50. We sat at the bar ordered one drink & two waters and our meals. Shortly after, two more people came and sat at the bar. I noticed the time going by, but didn’t think too much of it until the party that came in after us, got their food before us, this was at 7:40pm. I looked over and they basically had the samething as I did, (trio sampler) just that they had egg rolls and I had wings. The waiter never acknowledged us, to say “we’re still waiting on your food” “your food will be out shortly” she said nothing! I stopped her and asked if she had any idea when our food would be up, she stated at that point “we’re still waiting on it”. She then went to the kitchen and didn’t come back until 5-10 mins later with or food. My wings looked as if they were fried a long time ago, and they drizzled the sweet chili sauce on top, and then I had eggrolls (which looked old or cold might I add) instead of chicken tenders. That’s when my fiancé noticed that his burger was ice cold. At that point, I didn’t bother to touch my mini burgers, just told the waiter what was wrongs A male, not sure if he was the manager or not, came out and asked what was wrong with my wings, I told him about the issue of the whole plate and my fiancés’. He stated that it would be an easy fix, in which we declined. It appeared that the food had been sitting for a while and that the bartender had forgotten about it because it was no way the food should have appeared as it did. After all of that, no apology for the extended wait, food being wrong, and cold was given or anything. We left and went to...
Read moreMy experience here is horrible! My friends and I walked in and no one seated us. After about 5 min we seated ourselves at the bar The bar tender didn't greet us or take our orders......10 minutes later she took our drink order, took another 10-15 for us to get our drinks even though we sat at the bar. Finally after 45 minutes of being there she took our order. It only took another 45 min to receive our food but my order was wrong. Amanda insisted that sourdough bread was Texas toast, I sent my food back. After waiting for 2 hours my food never came. A female waitress boyfriend came in & his order was ready within 10 minutes of sitting. Another regular couple came in right after we did, they ate & left, we still hadn't received our food. The manager said my food had not been made because he checked on it 2-3 minutes ago, I knew that was a lie because he never even acknowledged me or my friends sitting at the bar. The manager offered us coupons but the general manger informed us that they didn't have any coupons but later found some. The service here was horrible and I will never return to this restaurant. Let's not forget the hostess biting her fingernails & holding a conversation with the other waitress boyfriend. The waitress also greeted her boyfriend with a very long hug & made sure we knew he belonged to her. This place is beyond unprofessional & needs an entire new staff!! I will be...
