As an actual casual dining chain O'Charley's has pretty much what you would expect, tables and booths, a hostess podium, carpeted floors, wall decor, flatware in paper napkin roll ups. The usual flair, nothing more or less. Pretty clean as one would expect. The full bar is always a good thing.
Menus are plastic and plain, the usual desert and mixed cocktail teasers. I had been thinking about prime rib which is only available on the weekend and naturally I went on a Wednesday. No worries, the ribeye steak will suffice. They have a full line up from steaks, chops, ribs to the usual pub fare and kids menu.
The host seated us quickly and the waitress came over right away, we ordered drinks and perused the menu. The service in general was good, the order came out reasonably timed, hot and correct. The waitress checked on us a couple of times, so pretty good there.
Prices are in line with what you would expect at a corporate casual restaurant. They did have free pie that day so that was a nice thing. The meal is worth the price in my opinion.
Food quality is actually pretty good, the rolls are hot and really good. Salad plentiful yet plain. Actual meals are pretty good overall, ribs are sweet and not over sauced, steak was tender and tasty, potato, vegetables, and sides well sized, and prepared like some one cared. I appreciate when the entire meal is well considered.
Overall this is one of my favorite restaurants in the area, and have been here many times, mostly all good and reasonable, on occasion a server might forget something, but a simple reminder is all that needs doing. While certainly not the very pinnacle quality of food and service, typically much better than most, and actually better than many restaurants that charge substantially more. I have never left hungry and usually take desert...
Read moreThe food was fair, but... when we arrived, there was a large party waiting. The host was just seating someone so I waited. He came back and said he needed to take care of something, then wandered seemingly aimlessly. He finally began rolling silverware rather than seating us at any one of several unoccupied tables while the line grew behind us. Several parties turned around and left. The store lost a good bit of business because he was rolling silverware rather than seating people.
At one point, we asked to be seated at a nearby booth. He told us that he just seated someone there (noone has been seated since our arrival). Patiently, we wait. Finally (10 - 15 minutes later) he seats us.
Everyone seems stressed. Our waitress is brief and rushed, but the place is only moderately busy, about 1/2 - 3/4 full. We overheard that a neighboring table has waited 45 minutes for an appetizer. We ordered and in time another waitress brings our food. I am not sure where our waitress was, but it wasn't tending any tables near us. The chicken on my salad is stone cold and I have the wrong dressing.
The whole experience was less than impressive. We never saw a manager, which is opposed to our experience at other O'Charleys. This visit was a big...
Read moreThis past weekend (12/12/2015 to be exact), I had the pleasure of dining in the Canal Winchester restaurant location, and was pleasantly surprised to find the following: I ordered an appetizer (the chicken tenders) and not only were they piping hot, but they were downright tasty including the sauce. Next, I ordered the Santa Fe Tilapia fish dinner and it absolutely was the best fish dinner I have ever eaten. The broccoli was succulent, fresh and green, and had a seasoning that was irresistible to the senses. The fish and rice were cooked to perfection, and is the best tilapia in the world. Keep up the good work! From the homemade bread to the entre, everything was perfection. While eating, I witnessed a sense of well-being of employees working together to reach a common goal. Everyone worked well together and efficiently. O’Charley’s has to be one of my favorite eating places and I hope it remains that way. Excellent food, and we always enjoy ourselves there with friends and family! The cooks they have on staff really know how to cook the food and keep it consistently good. I wish other restaurants could take some lessons from O’Charley’s in how to season the food, plan the menu, the proper way to treat...
