I usually have a great time at this bar. The reason for the 2 star rating would be as follows, and is concerning just one of the bouncers.
I was there with 2 female friends one night, we had lost one friend downstairs but the other friend and I were standing on the second level chatting. One of the bouncers came up to us (not sure of his name) and started demanding that we leave. We were surprised, as we weren't aware of anything we had been doing wrong. We repeatedly asked what we had done, and that we would then immediately leave, but he refused to tell us any reason, just telling us to get out. We should have listened to him, we were definitely in the wrong, but we just requested to know what we had done. We went downstairs to try and find our other friend before we left, and he started pushing us very hard towards the door. My friend who was with me literally ended up with a bleeding cut on her wrist.
My other friend (the one who we had lost) had been on the bottom floor and noticed what was happening, and came over asking what the commotion was. The bouncer shoved her to the ground. All she had done was try to see why he was shoving us (we hadn't shoved back at all, miraculously). A manager did come over and talk to us, but didn't offer any sort of apology or explanation other than pointing out that we had knocked a chair over upstairs when we came downstairs (accidentally when I stood up) Regardless of the reason, it is not an excuse to shove, have one of my friends bleeding, and throw the other to the ground.
Again, I usually have a great time at this bar but a very detracting overall experience. The rest of the staff is...
Read moreIf I could give this place negative stars, I would. Our bachelorette party waited in line 60 mins to get to the 3rd floor (the dance floor). This was only our 2nd stop from our party bus. There was a bouncer name Devin and there was a max capacity limit on the 3rd floor, but then people started creating a left lane from the original lane. Devin explicitly said, “We work here. We are in charge, we can do whatever we want.” He let a bunch of people through who cut the line and was friends was the bouncer (Devin). We had at least 8-10 people go before us, though we were in the correct line and waited 60 minutes. We were so frustrated and disappointed that he decided to create a new line on the left lane, we decided it wasn’t worth our time and left. When we left, we talked to the manager, Adam who was sincere with his apology and was sorry we experienced that. This place needs to have better policies in place and also, better training to their employees. You’re servicing people, your job depends on it, please don’t think you can do whatever you want. Devon told us he wanted to be social media famous, so here it is. Thank you for the most horrible experience in Madison, skip this place and spend your time elsewhere. This place doesn’t deserve your...

Still serving fishbowls of course, which you can also now buy (minus the alcohol) at the University Book Store downtown off of Lake St and State.
Truly a classy joint now with three floors...no more throwing peanut shells on the floor, or launching unrulies for misbehaving, one helluva guy owns this joint...and I have stories of my days living with the guy on Mifflin, Bassett, and for a time with Chuck in Middleton.
Bacon Night on Tuesday...gotta go when you're feeling thirsty and ignoring the doctor's advice never to binge drink again. But I happened to miss the old man, when I checked in with my wife and daughter recently. The bartender was friendly, as was the cook. Better yet...he made us some...
