Avoid This Jeweler at All Costs
I regret ever trusting Jewelers on State to create my engagement ring and wedding band set. My engagement ring had constant issues—diamonds fell out, prongs broke, and repairs never fully addressed the problems. The jeweler promised to make things right and asked for a second chance to work on the wedding bands. Begrudgingly, we agreed—worst mistake ever.
The wedding band was even worse—structurally unsound, diamonds falling out, and an independent goldsmith confirmed they were unwearable. Despite this, the jeweler refused to take full responsibility, offering partial fixes that didn’t address the real flaws.
Deceptive Practices: I requested lab-made diamonds, yet the appraisal from Jewelers on State (which took a month longer than promised) listed natural diamonds multiple times. Now, after being confronted, they claim it was a "simple typo"—but this typo happened six times. Worse, I wasn’t even informed of a correction until seeing their public response on Google.
The appraisal also overstates the total estimated diamond weight, further raising concerns about accuracy and transparency. Whether due to negligence or misrepresentation, these errors undermine trust in their credibility.
False Claims About Having the Rings for a Year: The jeweler falsely claims I was happy with my rings for a year before raising concerns. This is completely untrue: I haven’t even had the rings for a full year. My wedding hasn’t even happened yet. The rings spent more time in their possession than in mine due to ongoing repairs. The rings were still in the design phase through the end of 2023.
Ruby Chipping & Contradictory Excuses: In November 2024, I reported visible chips in my heirloom ruby. Shown in photos. Instead of taking responsibility, the jeweler immediately tried to blame me for the damage. Later, they contradicted themselves, claiming the chips were already present when the stone was purchased.
This means The jeweler either knowingly sold me a chipped stone without disclosing it OR falsely blamed me for damage I didn't cause. The chipped ruby was identified and reported in November 2024—well before I had even owned the ring for a full year. This blatant contradiction and refusal to take accountability is just another example of why this business is completely untrustworthy.
Broken Promises & Poor Customer Service: The jeweler explicitly stated they would honor an independent jeweler’s assessment if the rings were deemed structurally unsound. I obtained that assessment, which confirmed the rings were unwearable. They refused to follow through and instead dismissed the findings.
Worse, despite publicly claiming they wanted to "fix the issues," they ghosted me, ignoring my calls and messages. Their only acknowledgment has been defensive and misleading public responses rather than actual accountability.
Final Thoughts The rings spent more time in their possession than in mine, yet the problems persisted. In the end, I was forced to rely on my insurance to recover the value, since the jeweler refused to provide a real resolution. Their broken promises, misrepresentation, and lack of accountability make them completely untrustworthy.

Read moreEdit: genuinely shocked at your extremely rude and unprofessional response. It’s quite ironic that you said you had 1000+ people yet claim you recall our exact conversation and interactions- when I noted that MULTIPLE people stated how rude you were to them. We removed nor touched nothing from your table. The other booth had free samples with their contact info attached for people to test their own size; something you could have offered to build rapport rather than scold and yell at people for being curious about you and your work. It is shameful and unethical of you to accuse every one of stealing and taking advantage of her. A bridal show is a place of positivity. Something you severely lacked. It is even more shameful of you to criticize that jeweler for her type of jewelry and out her in such a blatant and disrespectful manner.
I hope those who are curious in your store see this interaction and know to go elsewhere. Have the day you deserve.
———————— Met them today at a bridal expo in Madison, and they were extremely rude and unwelcoming. Multiple other attendees at a different jewelers booth commented about how they were scolded for touching the ring sizing tool- something that was sitting out in front of everything, also that you could get measured for free anywhere else- and noted how the two men working the booth also spoke rudely to them. Will certainly not be using them for any of our wedding jewelry if that’s the impression they’re...
Read moreHad a great experience with Joey!
I won a contest on instagram which made me able to get a custom piece for cheaper than it would usually be. After making my appointment I met with Joey and he walked me through the process. After constructing my piece Joey was really open to helping me with a payment plan that would make it easier to pay without breaking the bank. Considering it was already cheaper than it would have been, I thought that was really nice of him. I ended up not using the payment plan but it’s the thought that counts. I made a purple amethyst cross. Joey offered to open his store on Easter Sunday so I could pick it up! It wasn’t feasible on my end but again I really appreciated his willingness to get my piece to me. Once I was able to pick it up I was amazed. It was just what I pictured. (Honestly the cross ended up being bigger than it was in the picture he showed me which was good because it was meant to make a statement). Once I took it home I went to my bathroom, which has really good lighting, and put it on and the stones were singing. They glistened in that way that make it look like they were almost turning on and off (I hope that makes sense). Anyways Joey was super helpful throughout the process and super accommodating. He made sure the piece was what I wanted. Going forward if I need any custom jewelry this will be...
