The 5 star reviews for this place are from the people who happened to not encountered any of the deep business issues that lie beneath. Agree with other reviews here that the service at this place has gone downhill. Besides my story below, we had the same experience as Jill (she did a review of this place you can read)—we were waiting very long at our table with no acknowledgement!
Decent food, but for sincere customer service Ed (owner) is only good at listening when there isn’t a human aspect to an issue (great at listening if dollars and cents need to be calculated). Our reservation was at 6pm, and when we realized we were going to be a few minutes late, we gave them a courtesy call and they promised us they would hold the table (but not passed 6:10). When we walked in at 6:08, they not only gave our table away, they put us at the bottom of the list. They proceeded to give several tables away to parties of our same size for the next half hour. When we asked, they said “these people have been actually waiting while you didn’t even show up for your reservation”—this comment didn’t make sense, and was delivered in an extremely rude manner. Apparently they have a rule to give your table away after 5min, which we didn’t learn about until we walked in the door. Very young & overwhelmed undertrained staff.
My clients and I had to wait another 30min+. I articulated this to Ed (owner) before we sat down (he was sitting at a large table with friends that night) and he could not understand why this was an issue—when giving him feedback a week or so later over the phone, he said “well we did get you a table didn’t we?”
This place just treats everyone like a tourist—your purpose is to make them money if you eat their food. There is no human element to this place at all. Very disappointing for a Mammoth business. Complete opposite experience from Nevado’s, Mammoth Rock n bowl (Brasserie), Mammoth Brewery, Schats, Bear Creek pizza, etc—would highly recommend those place for their food and leadership...
Read moreTerrible food and even worse service. They are not attentive. Ordered food, it came out wrong. And stale. Fries were undercooked and stale/soggy all at the same time somehow. And seasoning just dumped on half of them sloppy so the other half were cold and unseasoned. Bread on burger was stale. Grilled onions were steamed barely even cooked. Waitress never came back to check on us. Drinks never refilled. And waited 20 minutes for our check, which we had to ask twice for. Mind you we came after lunch hours in between to avoid the crowds. We finally voiced our concerns to what seemed to be the owner or manager of the place, and she responded very sharp and agitated at us "well why didn't you say anything" like we were the problem. We expressed how we would have if we would have been checked on. Then later she comes back and snatches the bill and curtly says "you don't have a bill" and storms off. No apology, and just attitude as if it's my fault our experience sucked. Now I appreciate them handling it, but I wasn't looking to not pay my bill. I was simply not looking for poor service and low quality. None of that was our fault, however when brought to light you'd think this would be handled better in order to improve future business. Just poor execution all around....
Read moreI really wanted to like Burgers more, especially having heard good things about the food. Let me start off by noting that the food was made with the freshest ingredients; the lettuce in the salad was crisp, the tomatoes ripe, bread and buns excellent. The meat is also very high quality and tastes great.
The downside is the execution of the menu. The French dip sandwich has tasty roast beef, but the au jus was pretty bland, the bread lacked the crispiness of a true French roll, and there was no horseradish to be had. The ribs got pretty good reviews from our table, but leaned heavily on the BBQ sauce for their flavor.
And for a place named after them, the burgers came off a bit boring. They had large and juicy patties, but as a whole fell a bit flat. Creativity and pizzazz was lacking in both the menu options and the overall execution.
The salads appeared to be a strong suit, as the ingredients were fresh and flavors well mixed. But this place is not called "salads," is it?
There's strong potential here, but the menu and execution needs some work. Maybe it was the season or a change in the kitchen that caught us out, but the hopes we had going in just never materialized. I'm sure we'll be back in the future, and I hope I can fix this review to...
