A group of 7 of us dined here for my fiancé's birthday. The place came highly recommended and it had pretty good reviews. To all of our surprise, this was by far one of the worst dining experiences that any of us have ever had.
Let's start with the first course. I ordered the French onion soup. It was sickingly sweet and needed to be seasoned. One of the other diners that ordered it tried adding water at the table and that actually helped with the sweetness but I would still not recommend trying this. On the other hand, the butternut squash soup was excellent.
Now let's discuss our entrees.
I had the beef bourguignon. It was so salty that it was unpalatable. I never send anything back but I had to with this dish as everyone at the table that tried it said it was inedible. Did I mention that this was one of the chef's specials?
My fiance had the scallops, another of the specials. She enjoyed them but said that she has definitely had better.
My best friend ordered the rack of lamb and it was so raw, I'm surprised he didn't get wool in his teeth.
Three of the group ordered the Vegetable Wellington. Every single one was undercooked and the puff pastry was nearly raw, to the point if you brought out a rolling pin, I could have made an entirely new dish.
At first the waiter was extremely helpful and then started to get extremely snarky. At one point asking one of our group if they were a chef and where they went to culinary school. At that point we asked why he was getting so rude with us. His response was the waste of food was upsetting. I told him that it wasn't our fault that the chef over salted and undercooked more than half of our meals. The manager Michelle, was even more condescending and rude. At one point saying "maybe this place isn't for you and hope to never see you here again". The service turned extremely hostile and aggressive.
Not once did we ask for anything for free and even said we had no issue with paying for our meal but wanted to let the kitchen staff know the food they were turning out was beyond unacceptable and even dangerous in the case of grossly undercooked proteins.
It is understandable that sometimes restaurants will have a bad night. Sometimes, the food will be subpar. What is absolutely unacceptable is the way we were treated when we informed them of their kitchen's multitude of blunders.
Michelle has no business working in hospitality as that is exactly what she lacks. I truly wish that the owners of this establishment see this and have a long discussion with her on how she treats their patrons.
I guarantee that we all would have enjoyed our food more if we would have gotten it from the concession stand at the bowling alley that this restaurant sits on top of. Maybe that's my fault for expecting more out a "French" restaurant above a...
Read moreLet me start off with a compliment, the butternut squash soup was amazing. After this, our experience soured. My 6 other friends ordered the French onion soup and it was salty and tasted like it was made from concentrate. We let the server know. Then one friend ordered the Beef Bourguignon and it was pure salt and the entire dish including the vegetables were not edible. Another buddy ordered the rack of lamb and it was so raw the surface was barely seared, leading us to question if it was safe to eat. We brought this to their attention and they offered to bring it back cooked, however the site of it ruined the appetite for my friend.
I was excited for my main course after my delicious butternut squash soup, but I was let down. The pastry part was dough and not cooked. We attempted to tell our server, however he questioned our opinions. I kindly and politely let him know 2 of the group of 6 are chefs, and routinely cook. The server asked what school we attended and we were offended by him questioning us. I offered to show my fiancés food page(for those that doubt @thinkoutsidethebun). He then brushed us off and said he doesn’t have time. Then the manager “Michelle” came. Over and said maybe this isn’t the place for us and refused to tell us her name. She said “I hope I never see you again” and had an attitude like we don’t know what food should look like. Unfortunately, this is why a lot of businesses fail and this place will not last. We live here part of the year and utterly offended and grossed out...
Read morePlease see that this gets to the manager and owner of the bowling alley and NOT the restaurant. First of all, we did not go there tonight to bowl but rather to eat at the Brasserie Lounge upstairs for dinner. Elevator access for the handicapped was a distance away so our 84 year old family member chose to go up the stairs with her cane. (Not a problem except this was not very handicapped accessible and the bartender in the bowling alley didn't really know where the elevator was, nor was he even willing to help us find the elevator-- there was only one customer at the bar so he wasn't even busy). We got there about 7:10 pm for our reservation at 7:15. Got seated quickly and then the service slowed down a lot. It took up about an hour to get our wines that we ordered. We left at 9:40 pm and this time our grandma chose to take the elevator down. When we got downstairs the whole bowling alley was DARK! The young man at the bar didn't even offer to turn on the lights and when one of our party asked for his card, he rudely refused and asked her if she was threatening him! Needless to say there is a flagrant customer service problem and a very dangerous environment for disabled patrons. There also needs to be a policy NOT to turn off the bowling alley lights until all the patrons of the upstairs...
