Update 2/11 -
Just spoke with the manager of the store who pointed out that the fee is disclosed on the receipt I was given at purchase. He also told me they are refunding me the fee and within a few minutes of getting the call the fee was posted back to my account. Updating review from 1 to 3 stars.
BEWARE- undisclosed fee and no communication.
I purchased a console here. When I got it home (floor model) it was wobbling very badly. They sent a tech to look at it and he determined there was a floor protector missing. He was going to fix the issue by adding a new, but not matching screw in vs stuck on ) on just one side.
I did not like this idea so decided to return it. I then learned that there was a 10 percent restocking fee. For an item the we picked up and delivered ourself… and also had to return ourself…
I talked to the assistant manager there about possibly working with me on getting my 10% back or at least offered as a store credit.
He said that sound be a problem and that the store manager would call me since he was not in the store at the time.
The store manager did not call me ans I got a notice from my bank that the refund was posted - and Ivan had kept the 10%. Nobody ever got in touch with me.
For the price of the item, I expect it to be nice and functional. It was neither. I felt it was a Nebraska furniture type item at a Havertys type price.
Had they given me my 10% back I would have likely reshopped here. But given the fact that they did not inform me of any restocking fee, I picked up and return the item myself, and the item was defective then they kept the fee without talking to me - I will not...

He always remembers my name & i appreciate that. I took a friend with me & introduced them to Will then we went & walked around store & 10min later Will said to my friend, Randy what do you think of our store. Randy said he was amazed Will remembered his name & he was very impressed with that and very impressed with the store selection. & the entire staff at both stores is quite friendly, helpful & professional. Their furniture is well made & priced right too. Hopefully more Ivan Smith stores will be built in DFW metroplex. I used to be an Interior Decorator & know my furniture too, I retired from that stressful profession too. I still love shopping for furniture + & Ivan Smith makes it fun too. Enjoy~

Read moreI am a person who rarely writes reviews. However, I had such a terrible experience here and left feeling so upset that I felt the need to take the time to do so. I walked around the entire store and waited in one spot of the store for over 10 minutes before anyone offered to assist me. After 1 of the 3 reps decided to finally ask me if I needed help, she was extremely short and continued to remind me that the chair I had my eye on was $900 as if I could not afford it. I decided to go to the counter and make my purchase because I refused to give her a commission. Upon going to the counter I again was reminded twice more by the desk clerk that the chair was $900 and if I was sure that I wanted it. After saying yes for the millionth time I asked when the chair would be in. The store manager checked and told me maybe mid October but that could not be confirmed they could not tell me when. That put me off because I refused to pay for an imaginary date. I asked if they could call me when it came in. His reply was that I could pay and wait. I declined and politely asked for the information for the chair and that I would continue to look around. He agreed and once handing it to me printed out in landscape view stated that “I printed it big for you”. I am African American an HR Manager by trade and I was extremely mortified and angered by my experience here. I will never give Ivan furniture a penny...
