True Texas BBQ is located inside the HEB Mansfield location, serving great BBQ, sides, and drinks in an all new inclusive establishment, bringing thousands of Texans together to eat amazing food while picking up everyday house essentials in the brand new grocery store!
I came through on a Tuesday to enjoy the all-day happy hour special on draft beers and grabbed a bite to eat. Upon entrance, a sign says no shopping carts allowed, so I'd highly advise you to eat before you shop or head through the drive-through window that is located outside. There is a kiosk available to make purchases in the front for quick service, which is for to go orders or dine in. The only exception is that no alcohol will be made available to purchase through the kiosk. Inside, they have a fountain drink area that serves soft drinks and a cold bar referridgerator bar that has lemonade, sweet tea, and a variety of bottled drink options.
As for the draft beers they have on tap, all of them are TX beers and are priced differently. The draft selection is written on a colorful chalkboard and is labeled by the type of beer, a description, and the ABV% along with the price. I decided to get the brisket nachos along with 2 drafts to wash it all down. Inside the dining area, there are multiple tables and chairs along with stools to sit at to enjoy your food. There is also a flat-screen tv inside playing sports as well.
Within minutes, my name was called, and my brisket nachos were ready for pickup. The nachos were looking elegant and classy, and all I wanted to do was dive in. The nachos were topped with chopped brisket, queso Blanco, and drizzled with sour cream. They were garnished with bright, vibrant, perfectly cut green onions and complemented with your choice of spicy or sweet BBQ sauce. The brisket was flavorful and smokey while the ice cold draft beers were clean and crisp.
Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience at True Texas BBQ, where the drinks and food definitely hit the spot. The customer service was as Texan as could be, while the food variety and choices were plentiful. The prices were average, and the Tuesday Happy Hour was as good as it gets! I'm looking forward to coming back and trying something new, maybe a meat platter or one of the delicious sides they...
Read moreTuesday 11:00 am. I started to wait in line to order True Texa BBQ at the new Mansfield location, but was told it was about a half hour wait. So, I decided to shop and place an order on the app. The app said it was only a 6 minute wait once I placed the order, so I did that. Picked up the two $10 something chopped brisket sandwiches right on time. They were HUGE. Great portion, but it was afterall over $10 a sandwich, so one would expect a good amount. Anyway, a good amount. Typically, I resent finishing the last bites of a BBQ sandwich as they are typically so good. This is the first time I've had True Texas BBQ, but I found myself sorta hoping I would get through the sandwich a little quicker as it was very salty. I know...everyone has different tastes, but I've had a lot of BBQ sandwiches and this is probably the saltiest tasting one I've had. I don't know if it was the meat that was too salty or the BBQ sauce. I hate to say it, but Buc-ee's BBQ sandwiches taste much better to me. Anyway, to each his own, but I'm not real sure I would rush back for another True Texas BBQ chopped brisket sandwich real soon. I would be game for trying something else there if the offer was made to me, but maybe order the smaller brisket sandwich to make sure you like it before ordering the huge chopped...
Read moreOn the 3rd day of opening at 7:30pm they had 1 register open to take orders with many people in line and 2 kiosks that were closed had to take service down 2 stairs for over 30min wait to place an order. The size of the sides I got was disappointing…. But were still amazing
I got a 3 meat plate (1) fatty sliced brisket and double ribs. There was a $2.75 up charge for getting double same meat but i’m glad I did. Very meaty very well seasoned smoked to perfection and consistent size of bones meaning each bone was about the same size no skimpy rib at all.
Unwrapping them from that double butcher paper was a fantastic presentation. The fatty or (moist) brisket was very good. Ripped apart by picking it up was 2 nice thick slices I think it needed one more slice for a 1 meat plate still in my opinion but still was top notch brisket.
My 2 sides greens and brisket beans they were amazing only down side the 1 meat container they came in were rather small. Lastly I had peach cobbler it did not disappoint one bit it had more of a peach custard cobbler vibe to it nice smooth creamy taste peaches baked just right not crunchy and not to over cooked…but the breading is the cobblers true hero here. I will definitely be back if food continues to shine like...
