This place was highly recommended to me. I visited with my three grown kids. When we walked in there were maybe two or three occupied tables. The sign said, "seat yourself", which we did, and it took about 5 minutes to be acknowledged by the waitress.
She took our drink order and didn't come back for about 7 minutes. Then she took the order for me and two of my kids, and then abruptly walked away, not realizing she hadn't gotten four orders. She realized her mistake after a few minutes and came back.
When the food was ready, it was brought out by the kitchen staff, not her. I point this out to emphasize that even though the place was nearly dead and there was at least one other server in the place, she still seemed to need help managing her two tables.
The food was perfectly acceptable. Nothing worth writing home about or making a return visit. We ordered an appetizer sampler, which include fried pickles. When they are done well, I think fried pickles are amazing. These tasted like they came out of the freezer section at the grocery store. They were hardly worth eating and a big disappointment.
According to the website, they offer smoking and non-smoking sections, but the whole place smelled like cigarettes. For me, that was mildly annoying, but for some, it is a big problem.
After finishing, we waited several minutes for the waitress to come check on us so we could pay and get out. She had given us only the bare minimum amount of attention all night. When she asked about the checks, I told her how we wanted them split up and she left to take care of that. When she dropped them off, I realized that she had done it wrong. We should have had three separate checks, but we only had two. I tried to explain the error, politely, but she cut me off and offered an excuse as to why she messed up and left again, in a hurry. When she came back, it still wasn't right. She got it right the third time and we paid.
My bill came to $27.02, and I put $30 cash on the table with the receipt. She came to collect my cash and my kid's debit cards. She never asked me if I needed change or offered to give it to me. I guess she just assumed that the change was hers to keep. I used to depend on tips to make a decent living, so I tip at least a little all of the time. However, it is a huge pet peeve of mine for a server to ask me if I need change. She didn't even bother with that; she just kept my money.
Another disappoint was the game room. The foosball table took our money but didn't give us the ball, so we lost money there. As for the pool table, the mechanism that accepted the money was broken, so we couldn't play pool either.
Summary: The food was unremarkable. The service was poor. The whole place smelled like smoke. The game room was zero fun. There is a 0% chance I would ever go again or...
Read moreNo Frills Grill & Sport Bar is located off Matlock and Debbie in Mansfield, serving the community with amazing food and great drinks in a stunning environment whether your looking to dine in or just hang out at the bar.
There is ample parking provided due to this fine establishment that is located in a shopping center. When entering, there is a door on the left to the bar, and the door on the right is the entrance to the dining restaurant. When going to the bar side, this section is 21 and up, but the dining area gladly welcomes anyone under 21. This is the spot to watch any sports games due to the abundant amount of TVs here. They have sports playing all throughout the day and night and are always playing your favorite Texas teams! They have pool tables and games to play along with a U-shaped bar with many stools. For seating anywhere beside the bar, they have booths along with chairs and tables. Did I mention they have TVs on each booth as well?
They offer many food items to choose from and always pair well with the many draft beers they have on tap. They always have specials on drinks that are a steal and too good to be true. Since I have been here, I have tried many items here, such as the Philly, California club, and the fried catfish. All were on point, and the quality and quanity were in full effect. To name a few of the details, I can start with the catfish deep-fried golden brown to perfection along with the perfectly seasoned fries and crispy tots. The California club was a hit with the toasted bread that is layered with deli meat and sweet ripe red tomatoes beneath a fresh, vibrant green leaf of lettuce. The toast had the perfect spread of mayonnaise and was delightfully tasty!
Come here for ice-cold beer and yummy food, you won't be disappointed! The service is second to none. The bartenders always greet with a smile and a warm welcome when entering. The prices and value are unbeatable for an unforgettable experience you will cherish...
Read moreThe waiter said it was a "MEMBERS ONLY CLUB" Me and my boyfriend came here after driving in from Houston for a friend wedding. We wanted to relax after a long drive and this place was 2 minutes from our Airbnb. We walked up to the door with another couple and went inside. No one was at the door to seat us. I walked over to the bar while my boyfriend signed us up to be next in pool. An older gentlemen (Bartender) said that we could sit on the other side of the restaurant. He didn't ask for a membership card. He was so nice to us. He walked to the other side and realized that that part was closed. I asked him could we still order food. He said yes and asked a couple who was sitting at a 6 seater table do they mind if we sit at the other end. They were nice as well. We sat down talking about the food and drinks. The waiter walked up to us and took our order. After he took our orders he asked "Do we have a memberships?" We said no. Then he asked for our ID. I gave him my LTC. He said he couldn't take it as proof. My LTC has the same info as my ID. After going back and forth with him for a few minutes I said ok and to forget about my drink. I'll just have the food. He then checked my boyfriends ID and said we could not stay because we were not members. My boyfriend asked "Why did you take our order and check my ID if we have to be members?" He said that's just the rules. I was so confused. To avoid confrontation we decided to leave. I am not sure if he was picking on us or didn't was to serve us but I'm pretty sure it wasn't no member club. No one asked the other couple memberships neither did the bartender after he seated...
