Manager was doing a horrible job of managing the store resources such as crew, food supply, etcetera.
In order to make the workload easier on the workers the manager had them lock the two front doors and divert all customers to the drive-thru. This is 100% not okay and it's actually in violation of Popeye's policy.
I went to the side of the restaurant where the drive-thru is at and their personnel door right there that leads from the lobby to the outside. I went inside. Several people were inside the lobby waiting for their orders.
The front cash register clerk ignored me for almost 10 minutes. She was bagging up orders to give to the drive-thru clerk. 2 managers were on duty and they both made eye contact with me. Neither one of them acknowledge my presence verbally. Neither one of them said anything like sir it's going to be a couple of minutes but we will get to you. Five employees had time to go to the restroom and when they were going to the restroom and coming back they looked at me and then looked away, as if they had done something wrong.
finally I called out to the manager who was about 12 ft away from me, bagging up orders and I told her that I'd like to place my order. She pointed to the lady that supposed to be working the front cash register, who instead was bagging orders for the drive-thru right near the front cash register, and told me that this particular lady would take my order .
Instead, that employee continued to bag orders for the drive through. After several minutes I called out to the manager again, who was still begging orders for the drive-thru, and told her that I want to place my order. The manager kept giving me dirty looks and looking like she was stressed out and angry with me for even being inside her restaurant because how dare should I place another order, and put money in her pocket, and provide jobs for her people!
The only reason that I picked this restaurant to go to because one of my co-workers had gone to this restaurant and when they gave him his order it was missing some food items. so, out of the kindness of my heart, I told my co-worker that I would go to Popeyes to get my lunch and while I'm there, if he would hand me his receipt, I would show it to them and request his red beans and rice that they had not provided for him and that he had paid for.
So finally when the clerk eventually took my order, I just showed her the receipt and told her I want to get the red beans and rice that were supposed to be in my co-workers bag.
So the front clerk, who had a Jamaican accent, she looked very scared like she knew that the crew was screwing up and she knew the manager was messing up. The manager kept giving me dirty looks. So the front cash register lady went and got the red beans and rice but before she did that she filled two more orders for the drive-thru.
When she came over to give me the red beans and rice that were supposed to be for my co-worker, she asked me what I wanted for my order. And I told her, I've decided to go somewhere else. I'm not going to give you all my money if I have to sit here for 17 minutes and wait that long to place an order.
And so after I got the red beans and rice I told the front clerk that I want to talk to the manager. She turned around and told the manager that I wanted to talk to her. The manager looked pissed off and gave me another dirty look and said I got a lot of orders to fill, it's going to be a while before I can talk to you, and she looked like she hated me.
Having spent many years working in the restaurant industry, I was making a mental list of all the things they were screwing up
After waiting several more minutes and having been in the store for nearly 30 minutes, I finally told the manager again look, I'm here in my break, and I need to talk to you. She refused to come over and talk to me. She stood where she was at, behind the counter and just said talk to me from where you're at.
So I started telling her all the problems that she was not handling well.
I started listing them off
Rudely, she...
Read moreRead moreThis place has extensively ruined my day even now --a good lil while after leaving! Knowing how much this will "eat" into the limited time ive got, here goes! THIS IS HOW insanely HORRID each visit here has made this Popeyes the ABSOLUTE WORST FAST FOOD PLACE (This review is ONLY IN REFERENCE TO THIS SPECIFIC PHYSICAL POPEYES LOCATION @287 &Walnut Creek) I've ever EVERRRRR been to IN LIFE no joke. What I don't understand is how this place is STILL running or in business after SO MANY YEARS OF consistently being the WORST OF places providing THE MOST TERRRRIBLE AWFUL SERVICE/FOOD/ENNNGLISH SPEAKING/BEHAVIOR/ATTITUDE for SO LONG, at least since I moved here 4 years ago! Sadly it's the only popeyes in my area for tens of miles unfortunately making it the most convenient to reach. The employees there have the worst most disrespectful attitudes &could give ZERO effs about the customer or customer service! It's insanely obvious NONE of them want to be there or do ANY WORK WHATSOEVER! Either IGNORING people at the counter for over 10mins while passing the counter bk & forth looking u dead in the eye then continuing to mosey about doing this & that, behaving as if they were clearly closed or not in service! Worst fact being --THEY NEVER HAVE ANY CHICKEN according to the drive thru person taking orders (or really lack thereof). Literally NONE AT ALL. No tenders no nuggets no spicy or non & THIS IS EVERY SINGLE TIME u drive thru after 5pm! They are so aloof & EACH ONE dressed so sloppily as if they seemingly sleep in their uniforms! Basically everyone there is speaking Spanish to each other & not communicating with customers. Rolling eyes etc... Just no more! None being prepped or ordered from another store or ANYTHING! Just NADA!! And GOOD LUCK trying to locate any ANY management or employee names at ALL! Manager IS NEVER there! Not at any of the times I hv felt the need (every time) to speak with a member of management! Just ATROCIOUS and a BLATANT DISGRACE to this company's brand! This place is actually supposedly to be representing the company which is undeniably extremely bad for biz. Don't understand how it's still around or running or continously filtering the worst of individuals for hire!?!!!! It's like they all have their own little group & anyone OUTSIDE the group will be ignored or sent away! This has been happening for all the years I've had the dishonor of living near to! I have to literally drive out of my way + wasting SO MUCH gas when I really want popeyes! Some times I do & the entire atmosphere & vibe is like NIGHT & DAY when compared with this location! Popeyes!!!---These ingrates are the worst of humans truly giving your brand name (company) a horrid rep & u can only imagine the taste it leaves customers with and the feeling after leaving so unsatisfied and truly extensivley frustrated in the most disturbed fashion, with most people's recollection being amplified which leads many too visitors so scarred & upset to ever even entertain the idea of visiting another location regardless of rating or reputation! This place completely RUINS the image of popeyes! Word of mouth is more impactful & will eventually lead this location to its demise which I can only hope will finally happen ASAP! God forbid a person decide to give them another chance after months of keeping away in hopes of "this time being different & better staffed" only to again be disappointed continually at which point the last straw will have been drawn. So sad &...
I revisited this location on 3/5/2020 and unfortunately, my previous encounter was better than the most recent. My husband and I initially chose the drive thru and after 10 minutes of waiting with no correspondence coming from inside, I decided to go inside. There was a customer in front of me that ultimately had to request his money back because they were out of spicy chicken and communicated such to him approximately minutes after he placed his order. I finally arrived at the cashier and observed the other, younger employees (several) behind the counter stating that they should close the drive thru (it was approximately 9:31 PM, the hours of operation are 10:30 AM to 11:00 PM). I also observed them cleaning the floors behind the counter (sweeping, mopping, throwing buckets of sudsy water onto the floor) all while there being uncovered food under their food lamps. No paper towels in the bathroom and I waited approximately 15 minutes for a spicy chicken sandwich combo. Another couple came into the restaurant after I ordered and made my drink (after I secured a cup myself due to one not being provided to me). The other couple received their food first and I had to ask for mine since it was clearly ready. Upon exiting, I observed a middle aged female Hispanic women (who confirmed she was the manager) talking to a younger Male employee outside, I inquired if it were policy for chemicals to be used and major cleaning conducted during regular hours and especially while food was still being prepared and openly exposed? It did not appear that the women spoke a lot of English because she made an unidentifiable noise with her mouth and put her head down. 🗣 DO BETTER POPEYE'S OR HIRE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO SUPERVISE AND GET YOUR STORE BACK UP TO STANDARDS ON ALL LEVELS!!!!!!!! Hire me, I have a master's degree and would be more than happy to revamp your store, from top to bottom!
I visited this popeye's during the frenzy of their chicken sandwich promotion. I understand that it's popular right now; however, there needs to be a more effective strategy in selling them. Having a line inside of 30+ people is not conducive to having one employee working the register. Also, the idea of your restaurant being fast food went out the window when it took approximately 30 minutes to receive 2 combos. Someone has to be on the strategic side of this chicken sandwich frenzy. If your company is aware of the popularity, why not ensure that product is being delivered in a timely manner and consistently to avoid the possibility of running out? I'm almost sure your companies revenue has gone up drastically since the world caught wind of the taste. The sandwich is delicious but I don't think you all (Popeye's as a general company) were prepared for it to take...
